The Medina Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team in a remote capacity. • Conduct thorough preliminary interviews and document client cases from the initial consultation through to the conclusion of treatment, ensuring all information is accurately recorded.
• Evaluate clients’ mental, behavioral, and emotional health to determine their unique needs and develop tailored intervention strategies.
• Create, implement, and monitor individualized treatment and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Facilitate individual therapy and group therapy sessions that promote healing, understanding, and skill-building among participants.
• Regularly assess client progress against treatment goals, making necessary adjustments to intervention plans based on observable outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, to devise comprehensive intervention plans and coordinate care.
• Provide essential follow-up support for clients who have been hospitalized, including coordination with attending physicians.
• Identify risk factors and behaviors that may hinder client recovery and work proactively to mitigate these challenges.
• Support clients’ family members and primary caregivers by offering resources and strategies to manage mental health complexities.

As a mental health counselor at Medina Counseling Center, you will work with a diverse range of clients facing various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction disorders. Our clinic prioritizes reaching underserved populations in the San Francisco area, enabling you to makes impactful contributions to community mental health while promoting social equity and inclusion.

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW in the state of California is mandatory.
• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) is required.
• Demonstrated experience as a mental health counselor, showcasing expertise in conducting assessments and delivering therapy.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, to efficiently manage client records and treatment plans.
• A solid understanding of physical and emotional health conditions related to mental health therapy, including addiction disorders.
• Knowledge of best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal abilities that foster positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
• A compassionate and attentive nature that enhances client engagement and support.

• Previous work in community health settings, particularly with marginalized populations.
• Experience in a remote counseling environment, leveraging telehealth practices effectively.
• Advanced knowledge of various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or others suited to particular client needs.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
