Remote Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) - Iowa Telehealth Role

Salary: $115,000-$120,000 per year with full benefits
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM

Job Summary

We are hiring a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to provide remote therapy services to clients across Iowa. In this role, you will meet with clients through secure telehealth sessions, help them work through emotional, behavioral, and life challenges, and create care plans that support steady progress. You will provide individual counseling, complete documentation, assess client needs, and use evidence-based approaches to help clients build healthier coping skills and improve daily functioning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual mental health counseling through a secure telehealth platform
  • Complete intake assessments and gather relevant clinical history
  • Develop treatment plans based on client goals, symptoms, and presenting concerns
  • Use evidence-based therapy methods such as CBT, DBT-informed skills, mindfulness-based strategies, or solution-focused therapy
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans when clinically appropriate
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record
  • Support clients dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, and related mental health needs
  • Identify risk concerns and follow proper safety planning and reporting procedures
  • Coordinate care when needed with other providers, referral sources, or support systems
  • Maintain professional boundaries and follow all Iowa licensure, ethical, and telehealth standards

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field
  • Active Iowa Licensed Mental Health Counselor license in good standing
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical counseling experience preferred
  • Experience providing therapy through telehealth is helpful but not required
  • Strong understanding of clinical documentation, treatment planning, and ethical care practices
  • Comfortable using video platforms, electronic health records, and basic digital communication tools
  • Ability to work independently while staying organized and responsive in a remote setting
