What is a full time RBT?

A Full-Time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a professional who works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy. RBTs work with individuals with autism or other developmental disorders to help improve their communication, social skills, and daily living abilities. A full-time position typically requires 30-40 hours per week, often in clinical, home, or school settings. Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, collecting data on client progress, and assisting with behavioral interventions.

What does a full time RBT do?

A typical day for a Full Time RBT involves working directly with clients—often children with autism or other developmental disabilities—by implementing individualized behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). You can expect to collect and record behavioral data, assist clients with daily living skills, and adjust activities based on client progress and needs. Collaboration with families, teachers, and other professionals is common to ensure consistency and effectiveness of interventions. The schedule is usually structured but may vary depending on client appointments and workplace settings, such as clinics, schools, or homes. This hands-on, supportive role allows you to make a meaningful impact on clients’ development and growth.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a full time RBT?

To excel as a Full Time RBT (Registered Behavior Technician), you need a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a 40-hour RBT training program, and passing the RBT certification exam. Proficiency in data collection systems, familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) methods, and adherence to BACB guidelines are standard requirements. Excellent communication, patience, and the ability to build rapport with clients and families are standout soft skills. These qualities are vital for delivering effective behavioral interventions, ensuring accurate progress tracking, and fostering a supportive therapeutic environment.

How many hours is full-time for a full time RBT?

A full-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) typically works around 30 to 40 hours per week, often following a set schedule that may include evenings and weekends. The exact hours can vary depending on the employer and client needs, but 35-40 hours is common for full-time roles in this field.

What other jobs can a full time RBT get?

A full-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) can transition into roles such as Behavior Analyst, BCBA, or behavioral health technician, often requiring additional certification or education. They can also work in related fields like special education, mental health support, or autism support services, utilizing skills in behavior management and data collection.

What other jobs can an RBT full time get?

A full-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) can transition into roles such as behavior analyst, case manager, or therapy supervisor, often requiring additional certifications like BCBA or BCaBA. They may also work in educational settings, mental health, or healthcare environments, utilizing skills in behavior management, data collection, and client support.

My Time 2 Launch, a neurodiversity-affirming, BCBA-led company, is seeking a compassionate, physically engaged RBT to work one-on-one with a young child in Dearborn Heights, currently receiving all services in the home setting. This is not your average ABA case — and we're not looking for an average candidate.
About This Role Your client is an energetic, lovable young child on the autism spectrum. Programming targets functional communication, attending, imitation, and school-readiness skills — with the ultimate goal of community and school reintegration. Activities will support the child's development, and may include support within a private school setting. You will be supervised by strong clinical team lead by a nationally recognized clinician. You will never be left to figure it out alone.
What You Need to Know This is a case that calls for someone who is extremely passionate, creative calm, and grounded — and genuinely fun and engaging. At My Time 2 Launch, we have a saying: if you aren't having fun, you aren't doing your job properly. The best RBTs bring playfulness and ingenuity to their role, remembering that this is your clients only childhood .Working under the direction of a team of strong BCBAs means you'll be constantly learning, growing, and building clinical skills that will define your career.
You're a Great Fit If You:
✔ Are patient, playful, and emotionally regulated under pressure
✔ Have experience with teaching and learning environments
✔ Can navigate significant complexity without taking it personally
✔ Bring creativity and flexibility to every session
✔ Have experience working in cross-cultural environments, bringing sensitivity and thoughtfulness into your work
✔ Are committed to neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based ABA
✔ Follow written protocols consistently and collect accurate data
✔ Hold your RBT certification — or are ready to earn it (we train motivated candidates)
What We Offer Competitive pay and benefits | Excellent clinical supervision by strong BCBAs | A mission-driven team that leads with heart, humor, and clinical excellence
