Registered Nurse - Surgery Clinic

Location:Heritage Building, 3rd Floor | La Crosse, Wisconsin
Schedule:Full-time, 0.9 FTE; 72 hours per two weeks
Shift:8-hour day shifts, Monday-Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. with a rotating day off
No weekends, holidays, or on-call obligations!

About the Role

Emplify Health by Gundersen is seeking a skilled and motivated Registered Nurse to join our Surgery Clinic team. This clinic-based role provides the opportunity to work alongside General Surgery and Vascular Surgery providers in a newly renovated outpatient space while delivering hands-on patient care throughout the surgical journey.

We're seeking a flexible nurse who enjoys variety, values patient relationships, and thrives in a specialty practice environment. Depending on experience, interests, and team needs, this role may support General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and future procedural sedation services as our surgical specialties team continues to grow.

What You Will Do

This position offers a highly hands-on nursing practice with opportunities to work across surgical specialties.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery clinic settings

  • Assist with wound vac management, dressing changes, and in-office procedures

  • Conduct pre-operative and post-operative patient education to support safe recovery

  • Perform telephone triage and assess patient concerns

  • Coordinate patient care across providers, departments, and services

  • Complete pre-procedure and follow-up patient communications

  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, advanced practice clinicians, and support staff

As the role evolves, opportunities may include:

  • Assisting with procedural sedation services

  • Administering and monitoring sedation medications following specialty training

  • Starting and maintaining vascular access

  • Performing point-of-care testing and procedural support activities

  • Monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures

What You'll Bring

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required

  • Active, unencumbered Wisconsin RN license

  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)

  • Minimum of one year of RN experience

  • Clinic, surgical, procedural, or specialty nursing experience preferred

  • Strong assessment, communication, and patient education skills

  • Ability to adapt and contribute to evolving workflows and specialty services
