We are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead our San Luis Obispo office. This is a key leadership role designed for an experienced structural engineer who wants to guide projects, mentor engineers, and help shape the culture and continued success of our growing firm.

Key Responsibilities

● Provide leadership and direction for the San Luis Obispo structural engineering team.

● Manage multiple structural projects from concept through completion, ensuring technical accuracy, quality, and efficiency.

● Oversee project budgets, schedules, and performance with a positive, results-oriented approach.

● Mentor and develop engineers and designers, providing training, feedback, & guidance.

● Foster a collaborative and high-performance office culture consistent with Praxis values.

● Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and consultants, maintaining strong relationships built on trust and clear communication.

● Contribute to business development and office growth, helping to expand Praxis’ presence.

● Lead by example in work ethic, accountability, and commitment to excellence.


Qualifications and Experience

● Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering

● 10+ years experience in structural engineering.

● Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

● Expertise in the design of structures using wood, concrete, steel, and masonry.

● Experience supervising design staff and managing client and consultant communication.

● Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.

● Skilled in technical writing, including reports, specifications, and correspondence.

● Proficiency with RISA, AutoCAD, ENERCALC, Excel, Bluebeam.

● Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and lead with integrity.
