Job description

Accounting amp; Compliance Manager
Location: The Landing Hotel, The Landing Restaurant, and Portside Pub amp; Grill
Reports To: General Manager
Position Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
The Accounting amp; Compliance Manager plays a key role in ensuring the financial integrity and regulatory compliance of hotel and restaurant operations. This position is responsible for executing daily audits, overseeing financial transactions, managing government billing, and supporting internal controls through accurate documentation and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily hotel and restaurant audit reviews, verifying revenue accuracy and identifying discrepancies.
Prepare and submit daily bank deposits and reconcile deposit records with system reports.
Manage accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P) processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
Generate and distribute direct hotel invoices for group bookings, corporate clients, and events.
Administer Medicaid billing in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Maintain current and valid food safety permits and liquor licenses and ensure documentation is up to date.
Facilitate Medicaid licensing renewals and related compliance documentation.
Monitor gift card activity and reconcile balances as needed.
Conduct chargeback research for disputed credit card transactions and respond to merchant processor inquiries.
Oversee petty cash management, maintaining accurate records and proper documentation of expenditures.
Prepare and file quarterly sales tax reports in accordance with local and state regulations.
Assist with bi-weekly payroll review, ensuring accuracy of timesheets and pay data.
Complete monthly credit card reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are verified and properly coded.
Assist with social media campaigns and creation of marketing materials for events.
Support special projects as assigned by senior management, including process improvements and financial reporting.
Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the finance team and cross-departmental needs.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or hotel operations required.
Strong understanding of hospitality industry accounting practices preferred.
Proficiency in financial systems and tools (e.g., PMS, POS, QuickBooks, Excel).
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
Working Conditions:
The work week is Monday thru Friday with some holiday workdays and other hosted event dates as coordinated with the General Manager.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities effectively.
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
