Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for the order, cleanliness and safety of the pool area. Transfer towels to and from the loading dock to the pool area. Take custody of and issue hotel equipment and towels to guests. Inform guests of the hotel's services available at the pool. Pick-up, store and return beverage and other amenities to the kitchen. Take and serve food and beverage orders according to established procedures, set and clear tables. Perform tasks necessary to insure good service. Adhere to applicable liquor laws. Observe patrons to fulfill any additional requests and to perceive when meals have been completed. Total bill and accept payment. Keep supplies stocked at his/her station. Attend and service the guests at the pool according to resort standards. Respond to emergencies following hotel procedures.
Essential Duties:
  • Welcome and greet guests in a warm and friendly manner when they arrive at the pool and offer assistance personalizing the service.
  • Offer refreshments and other amenities and services to guests.
  • Take food and beverage orders, explain menu items if needed.
  • Input all food/beverage orders in the resort's POS system.
  • Set and clear tables for food and beverage service.
  • Follow County regulations and hotel policies in serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Perform all side duties; stock and store amenities, condiments, linen and silverware, etc. in service station.
  • Present check to guests and accept and process payment.
  • Recognize and appropriately respond to irate patrons; contact manager on potential problems.
  • Serve food and beverage orders in a timely manner and according to standards.
  • Inspect pool area and rectify all safety hazards or faulty equipment; report problems to manager.
  • Issue towels and other pool equipment; refresh towels.
  • Observe guests at the pool or jacuzzi, responding to any problems.
  • Clean pool/Jacuzzi and pool chairs and tables.
  • Transport towels to/from the pool; maintain a proper supply of towels and supplies.
  • Pick-up towels, trash and debris continually during the day; wipe up spills, etc.
  • Advise and enforce hotel safety rules on use of pool and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations according to resort procedures.
  • Log any incidents or guest concerns in the daily log book.
  • Consistently perform tasks as specified on sequence of service standards and SOPs.
  • Communicate any outstanding duties or issues to manager.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Other Duties:
  • Recommend the resort's restaurants and facilities to guests
  • Suggestive selling and upselling of menu items and wine.

Working Conditions:
  • Works outdoors in the sun and other weather conditions.
  • Reflection of the water in the pool.

Work Hours:
  • Able to work shift and days determined by manager
  • May be scheduled more than 40 hours in a week, when needed.

Equipment Use:
  • Proficient in the use of the resort's POS system.
  • Coffee makers, toasters
  • Rescue equipment; AED, etc.
  • Carts to transport towels.
  • Cart to transport supplies and amenities.

Mental and Physical Demands:
  • Able to stand and walk during most of shift.
  • Able to lift and carry trays/chairs and supplies or equipment weighing up to 35 lbs
  • Must be able to bend, stoop or reach.
  • Must be able to respond to life and death emergency situations using AED, First Aid training.
  • Must be able to handle stressful or confrontational situations.
  • Push/pull carts and tables weighing up to 40 lbs.

Communication Demands:
  • Able to communicate verbally with employees, managers and guests.
  • Effectively communicate with appropriate resort employees and rescue personnel in emergencies over the phone, radio or in person.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
  • Department of Health TB test clearance.
  • CPR/AED Certified
  • Must be pleasant, friendly and smiling
  • Must be at least 18 years of age if selling or serving alcoholic beverages
  • Food Safety Certification, preferred
