Job Description
The Field Operations Technician supports pipeline and field operations by executing maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational activities in accordance with established safety and environmental standards. This role involves assisting with pipeline pigging operations, monitoring system performance, and collaborating with engineering and operations teams to ensure safe and efficient pipeline functionality. The position requires a self-motivated, safety-focused individual who can work in dynamic field environments and respond to operational needs, including emergency situations.
Responsibilities
  • Execute field operations in compliance with safety, environmental, and operational procedures
  • Support pipeline pigging operations using conventional launchers, receivers, and pig valve systems
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize daily tasks and field responsibilities
  • Provide strong field leadership and coordination of contract crews
  • Troubleshoot basic pipeline flow and operational issues, working with engineering and leadership as needed
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, schematics, and alignment sheets
  • Generate accurate and timely field reports for operational analysis
  • Maintain clear communication and effective teamwork across field and office personnel
  • Participate actively in safety meetings and operational team discussions
  • Follow all company procedures and ensure adherence to safety and environmental policies
  • Remain available for on-call response to emergency situations

Skills and Qualifications
  • 0-3 years of relevant oil and gas or field operations experience
  • Basic knowledge of pipeline pigging operations and equipment (launchers, receivers, pig valves)
  • Understanding of pipeline flow processes and their impact on system operations
  • Familiarity with mobile pump equipment and pipeline cleanout procedures
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of pipeline systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word) and field-based applications
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as P&IDs and schematics
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage changing priorities
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently (60-80%)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in engineering or a related technical field

Additional Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work on-call and respond to emergencies
  • Ability to perform physical job requirements, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, working in confined spaces, and navigating uneven terrain
