Job description

Position Title: Mechanical Pipe Foreman - Water/Wastewater

Position Summary
Lean Synergy Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Pipe Foreman - Water/Wastewater to support heavy civil construction work on the Brier Creek PS project in the Raleigh, NC area. This role is designed for an experienced field foreman with hands-on expertise in water/wastewater projects, mechanical piping, underground pipe installation, storm and sanitary systems, drainage systems, and water mains. The ideal candidate can lead crews in the field, read and understand plans and specifications, coordinate with equipment operators, maintain job-site safety, and keep production aligned with project schedules. This position may involve travel based on project needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support field crews on heavy civil water/wastewater projects, including mechanical piping, underground pipe installation, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, drainage, and water main work.
  • Install and repair underground pipes, fittings, and valves of various materials and sizes, including ductile, steel, PVC, and related piping systems.
  • Set up and use pipe lasers, transits, and layout tools to accurately position pipe, fittings, and related components in trenches and active work areas.
  • Understand line and grade, shoot grade with a level, and ensure pipe installation is completed accurately according to project plans and specifications.
  • Provide hand signals and clear direction to equipment operators while maintaining safe movement of people, equipment, and materials on the job site.
  • Measure, cut, fit, install, and leak test pipe systems while maintaining high-quality workmanship and production standards.
  • Backfill around pipe using hand tools and coordinate with equipment operators to protect installed work and maintain safe trench conditions.
  • Turn project requirements into a prioritized daily work plan for the crew, helping ensure production goals, schedules, safety standards, and quality expectations are met.
  • Check tools and equipment to ensure proper working condition and communicate needs, issues, or repair concerns to the appropriate project leadership.
  • Prepare reports as required and maintain strong communication with project leadership, crew members, subcontractors, and other job-site stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must have hands-on field experience in heavy civil construction, with a strong background in water/wastewater projects and mechanical or underground pipe work.
  • Experience installing pipe for water mains, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, drainage systems, and related infrastructure is required.
  • Candidates must be able to read and understand project plans, specifications, line and grade requirements, and job-site instructions.
  • General knowledge of heavy equipment operations, equipment coordination, and job-site safety practices is required.
  • Candidates must be able to measure, cut, fit, and leak test pipe while maintaining safe, accurate, and productive field operations.
  • Candidates must be able to work in trenches, active construction environments, changing weather conditions, and physically demanding job-site conditions.
  • Candidates must be willing to travel as needed based on project location and business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a foreman or field lead on water/wastewater, pump station, treatment plant, utility, or heavy commercial construction projects is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with trench safety, rigging, signaling, and safe excavation practices is preferred.
  • Experience working with ductile iron, steel, PVC, and other mechanical or underground piping materials is a plus.
  • Candidates who can bring or help build a reliable crew are highly valued.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills are preferred.

Brier Creek PS - Raleigh, NC, with additional project locations and travel as needed.
