Summary:  

This position is must have a Class A CDL License.   The employee in this position will be responsible for transporting freight, on a daily basis, between one or more locations. Must be able to operate truck with a manual transmission.  Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds is required. Work environment includes company vehicle and warehouse, plant or production areas with periods of continual driving/sitting and occasional standing or walking.  The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing is required. Forklift experience is a plus but not required. Must be able to pass all DOT and insurance regulations. Pre-employment drug screening will be required post offer.

Job Functions (Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements):

 The primary duties consist of (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Follow safety rules and work procedures.
  • Drives 24' straight truck (cap 10 tons) to transport materials to and from specified destinations by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.
  • Prepares receipts for load picked up. May maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations. 
  • Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. 
  • Position blocks and/or tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit. 
  • May load and unload truck; inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water; and/or perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs. 
  • Cleans work area or vehicle. 
  • Performs other duties as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must have clean driving record
  • Must have 6mo – 1yr DOT Driving Experience
