Position Summary Information
Position Title Instructor, Physics Position Type Full Time Regular Annual Schedule 9 months Expected Work Schedule Variable Anticipated Days Monday - Friday Anticipated Hours Variable Anticipated Hours per Week 40 Work Location A-B Tech Main Campus Job Description Summary
This position provides physics instruction to students pursuing Associate degrees, and advising to students pursuing the Associate of Science and Associate of Arts degrees. 
Duties
1. Maintains mastery of subject matter.
2. Develops and/or teaches courses for which the appropriate credential is held.
3. Teaches in various formats, various locations, and via various delivery methods.
4. Uses the Moodle learning management system to conduct courses and record grades.
5. Works with the other Physics instructors to select textbooks, maintain equipment, and revise/update in-house materials, including in-house lab manuals.
6. Advises students pursuing the Associate of Science and Associate of Arts degrees.
7. Adheres to all policies, procedures, expectations, and practices of the College, the department, and discipline.
8. Communicates clearly and effectively with students, other faculty, and college employees.
9. Contributes to a safe and secure campus environment.
10. Enforces Code of Classroom Conduct and Code of Student Conduct.
11. Assists with program reviews, program accreditation, and SACSCOC accreditation as appropriate.
12. Attends meetings and events and actively participates on committees and taskforces.
13. Attends the annual commencement ceremony.
14. Upholds the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
15. Supports diversity in all aspects.
16. Establishes and or upholds learning outcomes that are relevant and meaningful.
17. Evaluates student progress in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.
18. Develops, prepares, and/or delivers all levels of curriculum courses.
19. Completes required professional development annually.
20. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)
1. Must have a minimum of a Master's degree in Physics or related discipline with at least 18 graduate hours in Physics;
2. Teaching experience in higher education (can include college-level teaching done while in graduate school).
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience teaching at a community or technical college.
2. Experience using Moodle or another learning management system to conduct courses.
3. Experience advising students.
4. Experience with Web Assign, MasteringPhysics or other online homework platform.
5. Experience with interface equipment such as PASCO Scientific or Vernier.
6. Experience with NISOD Best Practices for Teaching Online.
7. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.
