What is full time PCB manufacturing?

Full time PCB manufacturing refers to working as a professional who is dedicated to the end-to-end process of producing printed circuit boards (PCBs) on a full-time basis. This includes tasks such as designing, fabricating, assembling, testing, and inspecting PCBs for use in various electronic devices. Full time roles in PCB manufacturing typically involve operating machinery, maintaining quality standards, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with engineers and other team members to meet production goals. These positions are crucial in industries like consumer electronics, automotive, telecommunications, and medical devices, where reliable PCBs are essential for product functionality.

What are the typical challenges faced by employees in full-time PCB manufacturing roles?

Employees in full-time PCB manufacturing often encounter challenges such as maintaining high precision and quality standards under tight deadlines, adapting to rapidly evolving technology, and ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols. Collaboration with engineering, quality assurance, and assembly teams is frequent, requiring strong communication skills. Additionally, managing repetitive tasks while minimizing errors and staying updated on industry best practices are key aspects of the role.

What is the difference between Full Time Pcb Manufacturing vs Pcb Assembler?

AspectFull Time Pcb ManufacturingPcb Assembler
CredentialsTechnical certifications, manufacturing experienceBasic soldering and assembly skills, training
Work EnvironmentManufacturing plants, production linesAssembly stations, electronics workshops
Industry UsageManufacturing companies, PCB factoriesElectronics assembly, contract manufacturers
Job FocusPCB production, quality control, process managementComponent placement, soldering, final assembly

Full Time Pcb Manufacturing involves overseeing the entire PCB production process, including quality control and process management, often requiring technical certifications. Pcb Assembler focuses on assembling components onto PCBs, typically involving soldering and manual assembly skills. Both roles are essential in electronics manufacturing but differ in scope and responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Time PCB Manufacturing Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time PCB Manufacturing Technician, you need a solid understanding of electronics, soldering, circuit board assembly, and quality control, typically supported by a technical diploma or equivalent experience. Familiarity with PCB design software (such as Altium Designer or Eagle), automated assembly equipment, and IPC certification are commonly required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help ensure accurate assembly and teamwork. These skills and qualities are crucial for maintaining product quality, meeting production deadlines, and ensuring the reliability of electronic devices.

Job description

Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies manufacture rockets, satellites, jets, and ships up to 10x faster and up to 2x cheaper. By combining advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing, we are reinventing how America produces its most critical parts.

Weโ€™re accelerating our mission with the launch of Factory 3 in Mesa, Arizona, a 290,000-square-foot facility creating 350 new jobs. We are expanding rapidly to support thousands of future hires, launching Hadrian Maritime to expand into naval production, and introducing a Factory-as-a-Service model that delivers complete systems instead of individual parts.

Hadrian is backed by leading investors including T. Rowe Price, Lux Capital, Founders Fund, and Andreessen Horowitz, our fast-growing team is united around reindustrializing American manufacturing for the 21st century and beyond.

Join Us in Advancing PCB Manufacturing

We are building advanced printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing capabilities by integrating materials science, precision fabrication, and high-throughput assembly into a unified production system. From substrate preparation and layer stackup through imaging, plating, assembly, and validation, we treat PCB manufacturing as a tightly controlled, multi-step process where chemical, mechanical, and electrical variables must align.

We are solving complex challenges across fabrication, surface treatment, assembly, and inspection. This requires engineers with deep expertise in PCB processes who can operate across both fabrication and assembly environments.

This is a general opportunity to engage PCB engineers with specialized experience across key process areas.

Core Specialty Areas

  • PCB Fabrication & Layer Stackup: Layup, lamination, book stacking/debooking, dry film application, imaging

  • Drilling & Via Formation: Mechanical drilling, laser drilling, X-ray drilling, via fill, desmear

  • Plating & Metallization: Copper plating, direct metallization, surface pretreatment, planarization

  • Etch & Pattern Transfer: Develop / etch / strip processes, soldermask application, screen printing

  • Surface Finishes & Coatings: OSP, ENIG, HASL, ENEPIG, conformal coating

  • Assembly & Interconnects: SMT assembly, connector soldering

  • Inspection & Test: AOI (Automated Optical Inspection), electrical test/rework, X-ray inspection

  • Material & Process Support Systems: Chemical analysis labs, mechanical analysis labs, ultrapure water systems, wastewater treatment

  • Secondary & Finishing Operations: Routing, deburring, preclean, mylar peel

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Develop, qualify, and optimize PCB fabrication and/or assembly processes

  • Control critical parameters across chemical, mechanical, and thermal processes to ensure yield and reliability

  • Partner with manufacturing, quality, and test teams to scale stable, high-throughput production

  • Define process specifications, control plans, and work instructions

  • Lead root cause analysis for yield loss, defects, and reliability failures

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent

    hands-on experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in PCB fabrication, assembly, or related process areas

  • Strong understanding of multilayer PCB construction, materials, and failure modes

  • Ability to interpret schematics, stackups, and fabrication drawings

  • Experience in production environments with a focus on yield and process control

What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience across both PCB fabrication and SMT assembly environments

  • Strong background in chemical process control (plating, etching, surface treatment)

  • Familiarity with IPC standards and high-reliability electronics manufacturing

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-performance electronics industries

Benefits for Full-time Employees
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees

  • 401k

  • Relocation support may be provided for certain situations, based on business need.

  • Flexible vacation policy
