Job description

Position Summary: Responsible for management, maintenance, and repair of all parish campus buildings including church, school and other properties, ensuring a safe, clean, functional, and welcoming environment. Performs hands-on maintenance tasks.
Classification: Exempt, Full Time
Reports To: Pastor or Parish Administrator. Also supports School Principal
Salary: 60,000
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair:
  • Conduct inspections of buildings and grounds and maintain compliance with local regulations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and trade repairs.
  • Handle carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.

Grounds and Exterior Maintenance:
  • Manage landscaping and seasonal grounds duties.
  • Maintain outdoor areas for aesthetics and safety.

Coordination and Supervision:
  • Oversee maintenance staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinate external contractors and ensure quality service.

Project Management:
  • Plan and oversee facility improvement projects.
  • Recommend upgrades and improvements.
  • Maintain documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Manage Request for Quote (RFQ) Process including; writing RFQ's, submitting RFQ's to vendors (Minimum of 3 preferred), review estimates, and make recommendations.
  • Create and maintain RFQ tracking process.

Inventory and Budget Management:
  • Maintain tool/equipment inventory.
  • Assist with the facilities budget.

Safety, Compliance, and Communication:
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Develop and enforce safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with pastor and principal.

Operational Support:
  • Support parish and school event setups.
  • Maintain maintenance and equipment logs and inspection reports.

Assist with other parish responsibilities as assigned, including occasional participation in liturgical and parish events.
Qualifications & Required Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in maintenance or facilities.
  • Proficiency in multiple trades including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Possess standard maintenance tools.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Discretion of confidential or sensitive information
  • Practicing Catholic who upholds the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a parish team and engage effectively with clergy, staff, volunteers, parents, and youth (if applicable).
  • Completion of diocesan Virtus safe environment training and background check

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Ability to operate standard maintenance equipment, standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, and phones. Valid driver's license required. This position involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching above shoulders.
Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs; ladders up to 30 ft. Indoor/outdoor work in various weather conditions. Occasional confined space work.
Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed for scheduled events or meetings.
