Job Description

For over 20 years, Apparent Technologies has been a leading engineering and manufacturing company supporting the semiconductor industry. We are currently seeking Full-Time Orbital Welders to join our team at our Austin, TX facility.

Responsibilities (Included, but not limited to)
  • Orbital Welding: Perform precision orbital welding of stainless steel, Hastelloy, tubing, valves, fittings, manifolds, and ultra-high-purity (UHP) gas delivery components used in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Cleanroom Manufacturing: Manufacture UHP gas line assemblies and weldments while following strict Class 100 cleanroom procedures, contamination control standards, and customer cleanliness requirements.
  • Equipment Setup: Set up, calibrate, program, and operate orbital welding equipment using approved weld schedules, parameters, and procedures to produce consistent, high-quality welds.
  • Purge System Operation: Configure purge systems, gas mixing equipment, and weld preparation processes to achieve high-purity, vacuum-tight welds that meet semiconductor industry standards.
  • Fabrication & Assembly: Perform tube cutting, fit-up, alignment, tacking, scribing, and assembly operations while maintaining precise dimensional tolerances and exceptional workmanship.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld procedures, travelers, and work instructions to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect completed welds for quality, appearance, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with customer specifications. Produce weld coupons and support qualification testing as required.
  • Documentation: Complete production records, weld logs, inspection documentation, and traceability records accurately and in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of orbital welding equipment and cleanroom tools to ensure reliable operation.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, quality, and manufacturing teams to meet production schedules while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all company safety policies, cleanroom protocols, PPE requirements, and ISO 9001 quality procedures.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous orbital welding experience is required. Three (3) or more years of welding or precision fabrication experience is preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training in welding, fabrication, manufacturing technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Orbital welding equipment and programming
    • Stainless steel and Hastelloy welding
    • Ultra-High-Purity (UHP) gas delivery systems
    • Semiconductor manufacturing processes
    • Cleanroom manufacturing practices
    • Blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation
    • Weld purge systems and gas management
    • Precision fabrication and assembly
    • Basic inspection and measuring equipment
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional attention to detail
    • Strong mechanical aptitude
    • Excellent hand-eye coordination
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, aerospace, or other high-purity manufacturing environments
    • Welding certifications or technical certifications
    • Experience with UHP gas line fabrication and orbital weld qualification procedures

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive hand movements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work safely in a cleanroom environment while wearing required PPE and cleanroom garments
  • Comfortable working around welding equipment, fabrication machinery, and moderate industrial noise levels
