Job description

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle SOA and WebLogic Administrator to lead and support a critical enterprise middleware modernization initiative. The primary focus of this role is upgrading existing Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Service Bus (OSB), and Oracle WebLogic Server environments from 12c to 14c.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the upgrade lifecycle of Oracle WebLogic Server, SOA Suite, and OSB from version 12c to 14c (e.g., 14.1.2.x).
  • Design and execute side-by-side migration strategies as well as in-place upgrades. Build and configure new WebLogic 14c domains and clustered topologies.
  • Execute and troubleshoot pre-upgrade readiness checks, and use the Repository Creation Utility (RCU) and Upgrade Assistant (UA) to upgrade database schemas and migrate in-flight instance data.
  • Reconfigure existing 12c domains to point to new 14c Oracle Home directories, ensuring Java compatibility (JDK 11+) and resolving deprecated API/feature conflicts.
  • Support upgrade testing, cut-over planning, disaster recovery validations, and rollback strategies to ensure platform stability.
  • Provision, configure, and administer WebLogic Managed Servers, Node Managers, clusters, JMS modules, JDBC data sources, and security realms.
  • Manage Oracle SOA Suite (BPEL, Human Task, Business Rules) and Oracle Service Bus (OSB) endpoints, routing rules, and transformations.
  • Monitor system performance, optimize JVM heap sizes, garbage collection parameters, and WebLogic thread pools for highly concurrent SOA workloads.
  • Ensure security configurations, LDAP/Active Directory integration (e.g., dedicated LDAP authenticators), SSL certificate updates, and compliance standards are rigorously met.
  • Partner with DevOps teams to automate the provisioning and deployment of BPEL/OSB composites using WLST, Jenkins, Git, and Shell/Python scripting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex deployment, runtime, network, and database connectivity issues affecting mission-critical integrations.
  • Create and maintain robust operational standards, configuration procedures, and runbooks detailing the 14c topology and troubleshooting guidelines.

Required Skills:
  • Deep knowledge of Oracle WebLogic Server (12c/14c), Oracle SOA Suite, and Oracle Service Bus (OSB).
  • Proficiency in Java runtime version upgrades (transitioning to JDK 11+) and validating compatibility.
  • Strong Linux/Unix administration skills, including Bash/Shell scripting and WLST (WebLogic Scripting Tool).
  • Understanding of Oracle Database interactions with middleware, including RAC, Grid, RCU schema management, and connection pooling.
  • Excellent analytical skills to diagnose stuck threads, memory leaks, and SOA composite runtime faults.

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of dedicated experience in Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle SOA Suite administration.
  • Proven, hands-on experience performing WebLogic and SOA domain migrations/upgrades (specifically 12c to 14c, or extensive 11g to 12c experience with 14c readiness).

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience extending SOA domains with Oracle Enterprise Scheduler (ESS) or Business Activity Monitoring (BAM).
  • Familiarity with Cloud infrastructure (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI, or AWS).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
  • Oracle WebLogic or SOA Administrator Certifications.
