Description
This full-time position will be based at RSTLLC's Huntsville, AL office. The primary duties include a mix of remotely providing forecast services for the U.S. Army Garrison - Kwajalein Atoll, mission weather support, performing scientific analyses of radar and satellite data along with data from other platforms based on customer requirements, software development, and some travel to remote locations to provide forecast services and perform instrumentation setup/maintenance.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills. Benefits include 95% company-paid medical, dental, and vision for the employee, family coverage is available at the employee's expense. The company also pays for Short-Term Disability and a Group Term Life and AD&D policy ($50k) for the employee. Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays are provided.
Job Overview:
  • Perform forecasting and weather watch duties for Kwajalein Atoll from the Huntsville, AL office including services for the general public and range customers.
  • Provide occasional on-console weather forecasting and monitoring support for various missions.
  • Make scientific presentations and publish reports and articles as applicable.
  • Develop an understanding of Kwajalein Atoll climatology.
  • Effectively communicating with customers, supervisors, peers, or subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Meteorological analysis and report writing in support of mission campaigns.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) to CONUS and OCONUS locations to provide interim weather station staffing and/or weather and instrumentation support for mission campaigns.
  • Perform some system administration functions on computers and network equipment associated with the Huntsville office.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or related engineering or scientific field.
  • A minimum of 2 years work experience within the field of study.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level DoD security clearance.
  • Excellent unde rstanding of operational meteorology and the use of observations such as radar, satellite, surface, lightning, and NWP in the monitoring and forecast process.
  • Physically able to perform and tolerate remote work deployments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and PPT.
  • Must be U.S. citizen.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Prior work experience in tropical meteorology, aviation forecasting, and/or range meteorology.
  • Technical writing experience.
  • Programming experience including C, Python, and scripting languages.
  • Proficient in the Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience working with dual-polarized weather radar data.
  • Experience working with geostationary and polar orbiting satellite data.
  • Experience with configuring and administrating meteorological instrumentation.

Work Environment:
  • Majority of work will be performed at the Huntsville, AL office.

Temporary duty travel (up to 10%) to remote tropical climate locations with wet and dry seasons and little temperature variation between. Work performed is both inside and outside and may include forecast operations, and instrumentation set-up.
