Job description

Braintree law firm seeks motivated legal assistant for thriving litigation department. Seeking an experienced legal assistant who is a self-starter. Experience with court practices and procedures and online filing. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Prepares and proofreads standard legal documents, such as pleadings, motions and discovery requests. Ensure legal documents are compliant with court rules and filed properly online.

Prepares and assembles materials, documents, and exhibits for various court appearances, depositions and meetings.

Assists attorneys in all aspects of pre-trial, trial, and appellate litigation, including overseeing discovery, including e-discovery, depositions, and preparation of exhibits.

Receives and screens telephone calls responding to inquiries on a variety of matters such as case status and attorney scheduling.

Manages incoming mail and outgoing mail and properly files in case file and scans to office document management files.

Manages attorney’s calendars including scheduling appointments and adding new appearances as received in the attorney’s mail.

Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to gather information and answer questions.

Address client inquiries in a timely and effective manner.

Organize and maintain case files, including physical and electronic files.

Assist with other tasks and projects as requested or needed.

Knowledge and Skills

3+ years of legal assistant or paralegal experience in litigation

Ability to organize and multi-task

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; Proficient with E-filing.

Excellent workload management skills, including being well-organized, diligent at follow-up, independent follow-through, and able to effectively manage multiple assignments and attorneys simultaneously.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Professional attitude, reliability and strong work ethic.

Able to work independently as well as in a team environment, including the ability to work collaboratively with other attorneys and staff.
