Job description

Position Title: Information Analyst II
Schedule: Full-Time
Location: On-site, Orchard Park, NY
Reports To: System Director of Institutional Research & Analytics
Position Summary
The Information Analyst II serves as the College's primary steward of key performance indicators, working within the Institutional Research and Analytics team to monitor institutional performance against strategic goals and to surface actionable findings for senior management and leadership. This position centers on interpretation: identifying trends and anomalies in institutional metrics, investigating their drivers, and translating what the data shows into recommendations that inform decisions. The Information Analyst II is expected to work with a high degree of independence.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Own the ongoing monitoring and assessment of the College's key performance indicators across enrollment, retention, persistence, completion, financial aid leveraging, academic program performance, and institutional effectiveness, maintaining the KPI framework, definitions, thresholds, and refresh cadence
  • Proactively identify variances, emerging trends, and inflection points in institutional metrics, and escalate findings to the senior management and leadership with supporting analysis rather than waiting for a request
  • Prepare and deliver briefings, dashboards, and written analyses, presenting findings to non-technical audiences with clarity and appropriate qualification of limitations
  • Benchmark institutional performance against peer and aspirant groups, national datasets (IPEDS, NSC, state systems), and the College's own historical baselines, and maintain the peer group methodology
  • Design and maintain the visualization layer through which KPIs are consumed across the institution, with attention to what decision-makers actually need to see rather than what is easiest to display
  • Develop and maintain intermediate to complex SQL queries against the College's administrative systems and data warehouse in support of KPI production and ad hoc analysis
  • Contribute to data governance efforts, including the definition and documentation of institutional data elements, the reconciliation of conflicting figures across offices, and the maintenance of an authoritative data dictionary for KPI measures
  • Support assessment activities across the College, including academic program review, the assessment of student learning outcomes, and the analysis of program-level performance data
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, social science, education, or related field
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, reporting, or institutional research, with demonstrated responsibility for interpreting results and not solely producing them
  • Demonstrated ability to write and optimize intermediate to complex SQL queries, including multi-table joins, subqueries, aggregations, and window functions
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining data visualizations or dashboards in a business intelligence tool
  • Demonstrated experience presenting analytical findings to senior audiences in writing and in person
  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel and the Office 365 suite
  • Sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive institutional data

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Experience in higher education institutional research, effectiveness, or planning
  • Experience extracting data from a data warehouse and working with dimensional models
  • Experience with Qlik, Power BI, Tableau, or comparable visualization platforms
  • Proficiency in R, SAS, Python, or comparable statistical environments
  • Working knowledge of IPEDS reporting requirements and higher education data standards
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes and strategic planning frameworks
  • Experience developing predictive or early warning models in an enrollment or student success context

Salary:
$74,000 - 80,000 per year.
This is an exempt position.
