This role plays a critical part in maintaining and modernizing a highly secure, performance-sensitive hybrid data environment supporting real-time financial operations.

About the Role
As a core member of the firm's data architecture and engineering function, you'll manage both legacy and cloud-native database systems, support production environments, implement automation and high availability, and contribute to cloud migration and data modernization strategies. This is a hybrid position based in Philadelphia, requiring 2 day per week onsite, with flexibility based on team needs and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and optimize SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases across hybrid environments
  • Architect scalable, normalized schemas and high-performance queries
  • Tune queries using execution plans, indexing strategies, and performance metrics

  • Manage roles, permissions, tuning parameters, and replication in PostgreSQL
  • Maintain secure, compliant environments with appropriate access controls and encryption
  • Automate deployments and health checks using scripting (PowerShell, Bash, T-SQL, or Python)
  • Monitor infrastructure using observability tools and respond to performance or availability issues
  • Support Snowflake-based data warehousing and integration pipelines
  • Participate in data migration, automation, and cloud enablement initiatives
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, InfoSec, Development, and Data Governance teams
  • Contribute to documentation, planning, and platform improvement efforts

Requirements

  • 5+ years of DBA experience with SQL Server and PostgreSQL in production environments
  • Expertise in query tuning, backup and recovery, HA/DR, and replication techniques
  • Hands-on knowledge of Snowflake (SnowSQL, ingestion, performance optimization)
  • Experience supporting PostgreSQL on Red Hat Linux

  • Familiarity with AWS RDS, Azure Database, or other managed PostgreSQL offerings
  • Proficient in scripting: Python, T-SQL, PowerShell, or Bash

  • Comfortable with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, SQL Profiler, custom alerts)
  • Ability to clearly document technical processes and follow change control protocols
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Background in financial services or other regulated, data-intensive environments is a plus

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience

Why Apply?

  • You'll join a collaborative data engineering team focused on modernization, automation, and cloud transformation
  • Be part of impactful, business-critical initiatives in the financial domain
  • Work with leading technologies (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, AWS/Azure)
  • Enjoy a hybrid schedule with consistent work-life balance and team support

Interested candidates with strong database architecture, scripting, and cloud experience are encouraged to apply. This is a chance to make a measurable difference on a talented team that's helping transform data infrastructure for the future of finance.
