Job description

Lifesteps is a local, social service agency which has been serving Western Pennsylvania for over 100 years by “helping individuals and families with life's changing needs”. The Agency provides programs and services to help those with special needs live to their fullest potential.

Position Summary:

Lifesteps is seeking two special education Supports Coordinators (known as Instructor / Program Specialist at Lifesteps) to work with individuals at the Adult Training Facility in Kittanning, PA. The role will assist in the development of Individual Goal Plans (ISP's) that ensure the needs and wishes of the individuals with disabilities are met. The role also coordinates services and supports and monitors for follow through.

The full-time position will also work hands on with the individuals in their caseload and assist with community participation.

Office administration is also included, as the role completes and maintains documentation and reports for the program.

Ensures compliance with 2380 and Chapter 11 regulations.

Schedule - Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. No evenings, No weekends, No holidays!

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Associate’s degree OR 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university and 4 years’ experience working directly with persons with disabilities. Degrees related to Education, Special Education, Counseling, Therapy, Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Transition Programming, Nursing, Health Administration, or similar are preferred, but any major qualifies
  • Possess a valid driver's license which legally permits operating a motor vehicle in Pennsylvania.
  • Obtain and maintain certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).

Preferred:

  • Master's degree and 1 year of experience working directly with persons with disabilities
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of working directly with persons with disabilities
  • Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators Certificate (ACRE)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
