Job Description

Ensemble Schools is seeking a passionate music ed rep to work with local school districts and enhance their music programs on a full-time basis for Creative Music Center in Monroe, CT, named a NAMM Top 100 Dealer, 15 years running. This staff member will serve as the account manager and primary point of contact for local band, orchestra, and music directors in Fairfield County, CT.

The desired hours for this position are 30-35 hours per week, approximately between 10 a.m.6 p.m., with occasional weekend flexibility for seasonal recruitment opportunities. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Music Education Representative
    • Outreach to local band and orchestra programs in schools, community arts organizations, and non-profit organizations
    • Weekly visits to local school districts (must have reliable vehicle)
    • Fostering and retaining relationships with the musical community in Fairfield County, CT and surrounding areas
    • Community outreach in the form of instrument try-out and instrument petting-zoo events and other outreach opportunities to recruit student interest
  • Retail Sales & Customer Service
    • Provide excellent customer service, especially during peak hours with high foot traffic
    • Maintain store cleanliness, merchandising, and an inviting storefront
    • Process transactions and operate the cash register
    • Stay up to date on product knowledge and new inventory
  • Qualifications
    • Previous retail experience required (music retail preferred)
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
    • Basic knowledge of musical instruments, accessories, and equipment
    • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage time effectively
    • Self-starter with a passion for music and helping others
    • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate
    • Eagerness to learn new skills and product knowledge
    • High School Diploma required; degree in Music or related field is a plus

The successful candidate will be an organized, motivated self-starter with a strong customer service and sales mindset. A background in Instrumental Music Education and knowledge of the function and pedagogy of multiple instruments, as well as experience playing multiple instruments, are a must. A background in sales, recruitment, and/or administration is strongly desired but not required.

Pay will be commensurate with experience, in the range of $20-25 per hour.
