Position Summary:
Provides a safe and secure environment for children while engaging them in developmentally appropriate activities. Works as a team member with the specialist, lead teacher, and suite members.
Responsibilities
  • Works as a team member with specialist, teacher and suite members.
  • Assists in developing class goals and objectives.
  • Assists in planning and implementing activities for children based on developmentally appropriate practice.
  • Monitors children's developmental progress.
  • Maintains necessary records.
  • Prepares teaching materials; arranges room and provides needed materials.
  • Oversees maintenance of the environment and notifies supervisor when a work order needs to be submitted.
  • Communicates daily with parents in either written or oral form. Conducts parent conferences.
  • Prepares developmental assessments as children progress from the class.
  • Provides for the safety and security of the children in the classroom. Assures children's physical needs are met consistently.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and trainings when scheduled.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum Experience:
One to three (1-3) years of childcare experience preferred. Maintain required training hours per DHS guidelines annually and as a new employee.
Licensure Requirement:
Infant-Child CPR and First Aid certification required or must be attained during employment. Renewed every three (3) years.
