Job description

Our client, a leading Personal Lines P&C Insurance Company, is seeking an experienced Homeowner Property Underwriter to join their expanding Florida team! This position will be responsible for evaluating new business applications, property inspection findings, policy changes, and account documentation to determine whether risks meet established underwriting standards.
The ideal candidate will be well-versed in underwriting homeowners' property business, possess strong risk-assessment abilities, and experience working directly with agents and internal service teams.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze new business applications, property inspection reports, underwriting alerts, and pending account activities to determine risk eligibility.
  • Evaluate endorsement requests, reinstatements, cancellations, and non-renewals in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Review property characteristics, supporting documentation, and exposure information to make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Apply policy forms, underwriting manuals, and coverage requirements across multiple states and personal lines products.
  • Approve acceptable risks and provide clear recommendations when additional information, documentation, or corrective action is required.
  • Respond to agent inquiries regarding new business submissions, underwriting exceptions, and risk eligibility.
Qualifications
  • 3 - 7+ years of Personal Lines Property underwriting experience.
  • Active Florida 2-20 or 20-44 insurance license, strongly desired.
  • Strong understanding of personal lines underwriting practices, property risk evaluation, and policy eligibility requirements.
