Heritage Wood Mills is a premium custom cabinetry and millwork manufacturer located in Glasgow, Missouri. We specialize in whole-home cabinetry solutions including kitchens, bathrooms, built-ins, and custom wood features. Our focus is on craftsmanship, consistency, and high-quality finishes that stand the test of time.

We are growing and looking for a skilled Wood Finishing Specialist to join our team.

Position Summary

The Wood Finishing Specialist is responsible for applying stains, paints, lacquers, and protective finishes to custom cabinetry and millwork products. This role is critical to ensuring that every project leaving our shop meets our quality standards and brand expectations.

We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in wood finishing who takes pride in detail, consistency, and craftsmanship.

Responsibilities
  • Apply stains, paints, lacquers, sealers, and topcoats to cabinetry and millwork
  • Match custom stain colors and paint finishes
  • Prepare surfaces through sanding, filling, and conditioning
  • Operate spray equipment including HVLP and airassisted systems
  • Maintain finishing equipment and spray booth cleanliness
  • Inspect finished products for defects and ensure quality control
  • Follow safety procedures for handling coatings and solvents
  • Work with production team to meet deadlines and scheduling goals
  • Maintain organized finishing area and inventory of materials
  • Qualifications
  • 2+ years experience in wood finishing (cabinetry or furniture preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of stains, paints, lacquers, and finishing systems
  • Experience with spray equipment (HVLP preferred)
  • Understanding of wood species and how they accept stain
  • Attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Dependable, punctual, and teamoriented
  • Preferred but not required:
  • Experience with conversion varnish or catalyzed finishes
  • Experience in custom cabinet shop environment
  • Knowledge of finishing schedule workflows
  • Ability to color match and produce consistent finishes
