Access Driver
Pay: While in training, trainees make $19.00/ HR. After training, Drivers are paid $20.50/ HR. Top pay for this position is $28.75/ HR. New Drivers are eligible to earn a $2000 hiring bonus, less applicable taxes, paid out in two installments.

Metro is seeking Access Drivers to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for our customers with disabilities. Access Drivers are not required to have or earn a Commercial Driver's License for this role. Ideal candidates for our Access Driver position will be strong multi-taskers with the ability to operate our bus, collect fares, drive defensively, and provide excellent customer service to our riders.

JOB DUTIES
  • Operate passenger coach on demand as scheduled.
  • Pre and post-inspect coach to detect and report safety or maintenance problems.
  • Observe safe operating practices at all times.
  • Operate wheelchair and scooter lifts as needed; safely and properly secure mobility aids.
  • Answer passenger questions and requests, furnish accurate information, and appropriately deal with disorderly or unruly passengers.
  • Document and record essential trip information as needed.
  • Assist passengers with disabilities on and off the vehicle
  • Manually collect fare media, cash and/or assist with electronic fare application usage.
  • Report mechanical defects, accidents, road hazards, personal or passenger injuries to dispatch,
  • Supervisor or maintenance personnel
  • Operate a two way radio as needed.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings and other on-going trainings as presented.
  • Provide exemplary customer service at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Must be 21 years of age at time of hire
  • Experience driving large vehicles preferred, but not required
  • Customer Service experience preferred
  • Experience working with people with disabilities preferred, but not required

  • Must pass Customer Service and Safety assessment
  • Excellent problem solving and customer service skills
