Job Responsibilities
The mission of the South Carolina Department of Education is to serve students, support teachers, empower parents, and engage the community so that every student graduates prepared to reach their full potential.
Job Purpose:
Under general supervision, responsible for supporting the creation of quality online courses, coordinating the review of VirtualSC courses and curricula, ensuring compliance with NCAA, College Board and other external guidelines, and the integration of instructional materials into online courses.
Responsibilities:
  • Participate in course design and review processes, collaborating with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and learning object designers to ensure that course alignment and content meet program standards.
  • Support the curation and implementation of program-aligned instructional materials, ensuring content meets legal and program requirements and is effectively integrated into online courses.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and design partners to support the development and refinement of course- and unit-level plans, summative assessments, formative activities, and related course documentation aligned to program standards.
  • Participate in QA review processes by collaborating on pilot course improvements.
  • Coach project team members toward creating course material that meets curriculum standards and program goals.
  • Actively supports and promotes the growth of quality content development practices at VirtualSC.
  • Participates in training to develop and maintain skills, knowledge, and mastery of relevant skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position in located in the Office of VirtualSC.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A master's degree in education or another directly related field and experience in curriculum development.
Preferred Qualifications
Current teaching certificate from South Carolina or a state with reciprocity.
