Join our team as a night shift, full-time, Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse (RN) in Athens, TX.

Get to Know Your Team:
  • UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility, including a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center; advanced diagnostic technology; 10-bed ICU; maternity unit radiation therapy center; and a stand-alone ED in Gun Barrel City.

Responsibilities
  • Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each patient receives nursing care appropriate to his/her illness or injury.
  • Prioritizes patient care need based on the patient assessment and uses the nursing process to implement a plan of care appropriate to each patient's needs.
  • Delivers care consistent with physician's orders and treatment protocols and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Qualifications
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Degree in nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Current Texas RN license
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support required within 14 days of hire and before providing direct patient care
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required before end of orientation
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required before end of orientation
  • NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required before end of orientation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of emergency nursing experience
  • Two years of acute care nursing experience
  • CEN
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
