What's the role?
We are looking for a Senior Market Researcher who can influence marketing decision-making by translating rigorous brand and performance marketing research into clear insights that sharpen channel execution and audience strategy. You'll work closely with marketing teams and alongside other researchers and data scientists to deliver recommendations that will craft the future of human commerce on Etsy.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Manager, Market Research.

  • We use research to inform the development of marketing strategy & tactics and to help evaluate marketing performance (in close partnership with Marketing Analytics)

What does the day-to-day look like?
  • Partner with Brand Marketing and Performance Marketing teams to guide marketing strategy and execution.
  • Independently develop and execute research for widely-scoped problem spaces, including writing briefs, developing survey instruments, analyzing data, generating insights and recommendations, writing reports, and socializing results.
  • Own key aspects of our holistic brand measurement program and channel & audience strategy, including partnering with Analytics teams to design and maintain robust brand measurement frameworks.
  • Own stakeholder relationships to share findings and prioritized recommendations to drive Etsy's marketing and business goals
  • Source and synthesize secondary research, including competitive intelligence.
  • Contribute to market research operations, including project management and overseeing the process of working with third-party research vendors (e.g., research agencies, moderators).

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
  • Approximately 5+ years experience conducting primary market research, ideally in a multi-channel marketing or ecommerce environment
  • Expertise designing and executing quantitative and mixed-methods research, including brand tracking, audience strategy, channel measurement
  • Strong quantitative research skills, including sampling, questionnaire design, and data analysis, with the ability to develop measurement frameworks, interpret complex data from primary research and third-party sources, identify meaningful trends, and translate findings into clear business implications
  • Experience connecting brand health, channel performance, audience understanding, and business outcomes to development holistic measurement approaches and inform marketing strategy
  • Comfort leveraging AI tools to accelerate research workflows and experience independently exploring new use cases- while maintaining human oversight and judgement of outputs
  • Excellent data visualization skills, including experience with Google Slides, with the ability to translate complex data into clear narratives
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills,
  • A collaborative, curious, and pragmatic mindset and the ability to balance methodological rigor with speed and proactively identify opportunities for research and measurement to improve marketing decisions

Compensation & Benefits
In addition to salary, you'll be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family. Base salary is determined by your location, skills, and experience.
Etsy uses two geographic pay zones to reflect the labor markets where we compete for talent: one called Geo-1, covering the New York City metropolitan area, San Francisco Bay Area, and Seattle metropolitan area, and one called Geo-2, covering all other U.S. locations. Salary ranges for this role vary by zone and are listed below.
Location
We prioritize candidates based within commutable distance of Etsy's Brooklyn Office. Depending on proximity, we ask team members to come in once or twice per week. Remote candidates outside commutable distance may be considered on a case-by-case basis, with the expectation of occasional travel to the office. • Geo-1: 138,000.00 - 186,000.00 USD Annual• Geo-2: 124,000.00 - 168,000.00 USD Annual
