The California Pan-Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN) is seeking a full-time Senior Policy Coordinator. CPEHN is a statewide health policy organization focused on addressing racial and ethnic health disparities. CPEHN works closely with communities of color across the state to elevate local voices and health issues to state and local policymakers and help communities of color advance policy change and structural reform that creates equitable conditions for their communities.

The Senior Policy Coordinator will conduct policy research, analysis and advocacy focused on addressing the social and systemic determinants of health and health inequalities. Additionally, this position is responsible for supporting CPEHNs community partner networks. This includes providing technical support, capacity building, overall programmatic support, developing partner relationships, and planning and supporting meetings and events.

We are looking for someone to join our team who is passionate about health equity and has a background in health policy analysis and research and experience working with community partners. Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives working in a collaborative environment and has experience with data analysis. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned advocate to apply their skills and be a part of a fantastic team working to improve health equity in communities of color in California.

This position may be based anywhere in California. CPEHN maintains physical offices in Oakland, Sacramento, and Los Angeles and has a hybrid work policy (air traveled required). CPEHN has a mandatory up-to-date COVID-19 vaccine policy.

Key Job Duties:

  • Conduct national, state and local policy research and analysis, including qualitative and quantitative data related to CPEHNs policy projects.
  • Develop written policy reports, recommendations, and presentations with a racial and social equity lens on CPEHNs policy
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity such as presentations and trainings for local partners on policy priorities and advocacy strategies.
  • Organize meetings, trainings and advocacy engagement for CPEHNs networks and coalitions both virtually and in-person. This includes meeting logistics, agenda development, facilitation, note-taking, listserv management, communications, and follow-ups.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful and authentic relationships with CPEHNs network of community.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience conducting policy research and analysis witha racialand health equitylens.
  • Experience working with community partners to support policyadvocacy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks atonce.
  • Strong writing skillsincludingproofreading andediting.
  • Experience scheduling, managing electronic files, and other administrativetasks.
  • Eventmanagementexperience,especiallyvirtuallogistics
    (Zoom,creatingprogramsandagendas,outreachandrelationship management withspeakers.
  • Cultural humility and ability to understand issuesimpactingall communities ofcolor.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of professional experience in the field of heath policy, social work, public policy, health equity, community health education, or related fields.
  • 2-4 years of professional or lived experience focused on addressing or advocating on the health and social issues that impact historically oppressed or disadvantaged communities.
  • At least 1 year working with a community-based non-profit.

Compensation and Benefits:

$70,000 $72,000 (DOE). At CPEHN, we understand the importance of benefits and how they contribute to the overall well-being of our staff.
