Job description

Controller

Location: North Metro Atlanta, GA (Hybrid – 4 days in office)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

About the Company

Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced DV-LED display solutions, creating immersive visual experiences for Fortune 500 companies and organizations across retail, transportation, sports and entertainment, corporate, education, broadcast, government, and many other industries.

Innovation isn't limited to the products they build. It's part of how they operate.

About the Opportunity

We're looking for a Controller who sees accounting as more than producing accurate financial statements. This is a leadership role for someone who constantly asks, "Is there a better way?"

Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll own the accounting function while helping modernize how finance operates. You'll lead financial reporting, internal controls, ERP optimization, and process improvement while identifying opportunities to automate repetitive work, leverage technology more effectively, and provide faster, more meaningful financial insights.

If you're the type of accounting leader who enjoys exploring new software capabilities, embracing AI, eliminating manual processes, and challenging the status quo, you'll thrive here.

What You'll Do

Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process with accuracy and efficiency
  • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and executive reporting packages
  • Deliver meaningful financial analysis that helps leadership make better business decisions
  • Strengthen internal controls while improving the efficiency of financial processes
  • Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and regulatory agencies

Technology, Automation & Process Improvement

  • Own and optimize Acumatica as the finance system of record
  • Maximize existing software investments by leveraging underutilized features, workflows, and reporting capabilities
  • Continuously evaluate accounting processes to eliminate manual work and improve efficiency
  • Identify automation opportunities across AP, AR, reconciliations, reporting, inventory, and project accounting
  • Challenge existing processes and recommend smarter, more scalable ways of working
  • Develop dashboards, workflows, and reporting tools that improve visibility and decision-making
  • Partner with IT and business leaders to improve system integrations and data quality

AI & Finance Innovation

  • Stay current on emerging AI technologies that can improve accounting operations
  • Evaluate and implement AI-powered solutions that enhance financial controls, reporting, forecasting, and analysis
  • Help build a long-term technology roadmap for the finance organization alongside the CFO
  • Foster a culture where curiosity, innovation, and continuous improvement are part of everyday work

Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
  • Build a culture focused on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with Sales Operations, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Executive Leadership to strengthen financial processes throughout the business
  • Provide guidance on revenue recognition, inventory accounting, project accounting, and technical accounting matters
  • Support strategic initiatives including acquisitions, financing, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning

What You'll Bring

Required

  • Active CPA license
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 3+ years as an Assistant Controller or Controller
  • Experience leading accounting within a manufacturing, technology, or project-based business
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based ERP systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience administering or optimizing Acumatica
  • Manufacturing or technology industry experience
  • ERP implementation, optimization, or system enhancement experience
  • Experience leveraging AI or automation tools within finance
  • MBA or other advanced degree

What Will Make You Successful

We're looking for someone who naturally:

  • Questions inefficient processes instead of accepting "the way we've always done it"
  • Has a genuine curiosity for learning new technologies and software capabilities
  • Enjoys finding opportunities to automate repetitive work
  • Thinks like both an accountant and a business operator
  • Leverages data to improve decision-making
  • Is continually looking for ways to improve processes, systems, and reporting
  • Takes ownership and proactively identifies problems before they become issues

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Report directly to the CFO and help shape the future of the finance organization
  • Play a key role in modernizing accounting through technology, automation, and AI
  • Work for an innovative technology manufacturer that values continuous improvement
  • Influence how finance systems, processes, and reporting evolve as the company grows
  • Join a leadership team that encourages curiosity, new ideas, and challenging conventional thinking
  • Opportunity to make a measurable impact on efficiency, scalability, and business performance
  • Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, generous PTO, company 401(k) match, CPA continuing education support, and hybrid work flexibility

The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and requirements.
