Description
Position at Hood Lumber
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to support electrical maintenance at our Waynesboro, MS lumber manufacturing operation. In this role, you will ensure production equipment remains in safe, reliable working condition while helping minimize downtime and identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
Now is a great time to join our team. We are currently constructing a new, state-of-the-art sawmill, reflecting our continued commitment to operational excellence and long-term growth. As we expand, we are seeking skilled Industrial Electricians who want to grow their careers with a company that values craftsmanship, safety, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely use appropriate tools to repair and maintain production and manufacturing equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair/replace motor control circuits, pneumatic and hydraulic valves and cylinders, relays, DC and AC drives, limit and proximity switches, and other field devices.
  • Install and maintain conduit and motor wiring.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment to identify irregularities, malfunctions, and opportunities for preventive maintenance.
  • Program and troubleshoot VFDs, Allen Bradley software, and PLC systems.
  • Monitor spare parts, electrical supplies, and equipment; initiate reorders as needed.
  • Operates forklifts or other rolling stock when required.
  • Maintain consistent communication with co-workers and management regarding electrical and maintenance issues.
  • Proactively review equipment performance, address issues, and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and operating costs.
  • Support and adhere to all safety, health, and environmental policies; respond to repair or modification requests from the Safety Committee or Safety Manager.
  • Assist with additional plant operations duties as assigned.

Testing Requirements:
  • Must successfully complete an electrician maintenance exam and hands-on technical assessment.

Education/Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minium of three years of electrical experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, noisy, industrial environment.
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Willing and able to pull and lift to 50 lbs.

Pay Range: $27.56 - $34.59/per hour
