Job description

Machine Operator
Automation Personnel Services is seeking a dependable Machine Operator. The Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining production equipment used in the manufacturing and packaging of potting soils, growing media, fertilizers, and lawn care products. This role ensures products are produced safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards.

Pay Rate
$17 per hour

Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday, 6 00 am to 6 30 pm. or 6 00 pm to 6 30 am.

Machine Operator Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate automated and semi-automated production equipment.
  • Set up machinery at the beginning of each shift.
  • Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments as needed.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major repairs.
  • Perform machine inspections, calibrations, and quality checks.
  • Complete production records, downtime logs, and quality documentation.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in production areas.
  • Operate forklifts to move raw materials and finished goods when required.
  • Follow all plant safety procedures and conduct equipment safety checks.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities and equipment cleaning.
Machine Operator Qualifications and Requirements
  • At least 2 – 4 years of Machine production experience.
  • Ability to operate a Forklift and stand for a long period of time.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Experience with fine-pitch or miniature component soldering preferred.
  • Follow workplace safety standards.
Work Environment
  • Dusty manufacturing environment due to soil and fertilizer products.
  • Exposure to outdoor temperatures, heat, humidity, and weather conditions.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Climbing ladders and working around conveyors, mixers, bagging equipment, and palletizers.
  • Mandatory overtime, weekends, and seasonal peak production schedules may be required.
