What is a full time lumper?

Full Time Lumpers are warehouse workers responsible for loading and unloading goods from trucks, containers, or trailers. They manually handle freight, organize shipments, and sometimes assist with inventory or sorting tasks. Lumpers play a crucial role in ensuring that goods are moved efficiently within distribution centers or warehouses. Working full time usually means consistent shifts and eligibility for employee benefits. This role requires physical strength, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time lumper, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Lumper, you need physical stamina, attention to detail, and basic understanding of warehouse operations, often with a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with pallet jacks, hand trucks, and inventory systems is typically required. These skills ensure safe and accurate unloading, loading, and organization of goods, which is critical for warehouse productivity and safety.
