Job description

The Center for Youth: Started BY YOUTH FOR YOUTH. We partner with youth to realize their full potential, by creating opportunities, removing barriers and promoting social justice. Overview: The Arnett House is a transitional living program for homeless youth that identify as LGBTQ+ or trafficked youth. The Life Skills Specialist will engage and establish mutually respectful, trusting relationships with the youth we serve. The Specialist is responsible for the coordination of life skills programming and education and employment curriculum. Staff will conduct on-going assessments of youth's skill level and create individual/group training opportunities. This position will also assist the New Beginning Program Manager in creating and implementing a service learning model for the residents in order to build healthy, permanent connections in our community.Schedule: Full Time. Sunday & Monday & Thursday 3:30pm- 11pm, Tuesday & Wednesday 10am- 6pmLocation: Arnette House Responsibilities:Crisis intervention and responseDirect supervision and support to residentsConduct on-going assessments of participants' life skills, employment and education needsImplementation of life skills training and employment and education curriculumIncorporate CYS philosophy and effective teaching approachesManage environment to provide a safe and supportive residential program Transporting program participants, as requiredMaintain clear professional boundariesPromote strength-based, trauma informed service delivery (youth leadership, asset development)Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field AND 1 year related experience OR equivalent / Bachelor's Degree preferred A valid drivers license Skills: Strong problem solving and decision-making skillsknowledgeable of managing group dynamics and can demonstrate various intervention techniques Knowledge of the homeless/runaway youth service systemKnowledge of community resources Strong literacy and communication skillsAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft OfficePay Rate: $20- $21 per hour *All Offers may be contingent on a Background check and Driving record & Automobile insurance that meets agency insurance carrier requirements.
