What is lean manufacturing?

Lean manufacturing is a production methodology focused on minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency within manufacturing systems. It aims to deliver high-quality products to customers while using fewer resources, such as time, materials, and labor. Lean principles encourage continuous improvement, employee involvement, and streamlined processes to reduce costs and improve productivity. Popular tools in lean manufacturing include 5S, Kaizen, and Just-In-Time production.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time lean manufacturing professional?

To thrive in Full Time Lean Manufacturing, you need a solid understanding of lean principles, process improvement methodologies, and a background in engineering or industrial management. Familiarity with tools like Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and ERP systems, along with relevant certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, is highly valued. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent teamwork and communication skills help drive continuous improvement initiatives. These skills are crucial for reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and maintaining a competitive edge in manufacturing operations.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in full time lean manufacturing roles, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in full-time Lean Manufacturing roles is overcoming resistance to change among team members, as implementing Lean principles often requires altering long-standing processes. Additionally, maintaining consistent communication between cross-functional teams can be difficult, especially when coordinating continuous improvement initiatives. To address these challenges, Lean professionals can prioritize regular training sessions, foster a culture of openness to feedback, and use data-driven approaches to demonstrate the value of process improvements. If you have a passion for the open road, a commitment to safety, and the experience to back it up, we’d love to hear from you!

About the Position

Lean Life Manufacturing is hiring an experienced Class A CDL Driver to transport our refrigerated prepared meals from our Rochester production facility to our retail store network.

This is a dedicated private-fleet position hauling Lean Life products—not general or brokered freight. Routes may include deliveries to North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, New Jersey, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, Alabama, Missouri, Idaho, West Virginia and additional states as our retail network grows.

Drivers should be comfortable with both regional and long-haul routes. Some assignments may require several consecutive nights away from home, and longer routes including Texas and Idaho may keep the driver away for a week or more. Home time will be scheduled between assigned routes.

What We Offer
  • $32 - $35 per hour based on experience
  • Full-time W-2 employment
  • Company-provided tractor and refrigerated trailer
  • Dedicated routes to our store network
  • Company products only—no brokered or third-party loads
  • All compensable driving and on-duty work time paid
  • Company-paid lodging when required by the route
  • Consistent communication and support from our Rochester team
  • Health and Dental Benefits
Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a Class A tractor with a 53-foot refrigerated trailer
  • Transport refrigerated prepared meals between Rochester and out-of-state store locations
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Monitor and document trailer temperatures throughout each route
  • Maintain proper product temperature and follow food-safety procedures
  • Verify load counts, secure palletized freight and maintain required delivery paperwork
  • Assist with loading, unloading and pallet handling when required
  • Follow assigned delivery schedules and communicate delays or equipment issues promptly
  • Accurately maintain ELD records and comply with hours-of-service requirements
  • Follow all FMCSA, DOT, company safety and vehicle-maintenance requirements
  • Report accidents, cargo issues, temperature deviations and mechanical problems immediately
  • Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with store teams
What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for someone who’s ready to hit the ground running with the following qualifications:

  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years old.
  • License & Certification: Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of interstate and multi-day driving experience.
  • Driving Record: Acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with ELDs, hours-of-service rules, and DOT inspections.
  • Physical Ability: Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and safely maneuvering a 53-foot trailer at delivery locations.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to stay overnight and on extended multi-day routes.
  • Skills: Strong communication, time-management, and recordkeeping abilities.
  • Screening: Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings.

SCHEDULE:
This is not a home-daily position. Routes and departure times will vary according to production and store-delivery needs. Overnight travel, weekends and extended routes may be required. Drivers must comply with all federal hours-of-service and required rest periods.
