Job description

Position Summary... What you'll do...Role summary:
As Sr Merchant, Business Development & Strategic Partnerships for Furniture (D71), you will build and own the external relationship ecosystem that enables Walmart to win in one of its biggest, most underleveraged industries. You will create and lead partnerships with major furniture retailers and sellers. You will own Walmart's last-mile and delivery strategy for Furniture – a critical enabler of growth in a heavy, high-cost-to-ship environment.  This is a relationship architect, and a strategic problem-solver who can build entirely new business models and revenue streams for one of Walmart's most exciting growth opportunities.
About the team:
The Furniture team is a customer obsessed,  digital-first team, focused on growing share and winning in a highly complex industry.
What you'll do:
  • Building Walmart's furniture partner ecosystem: Developing, managing, and growing a strategic portfolio of partnerships – major furniture brands, sellers, and retailers, regional independents, and emerging digital-first brands.
  • Owning last-mile strategy: Designing and executing Walmart's last-mile delivery approach.
  • Creating new business models: Identifying and structuring marketplace,  drop-ship, and service-based partnerships that expand Walmart's share of the furniture market without traditional buying risk.
  • Collaborating across Walmart: Partnering with site, marketplace, supply chain, marketing, and finance to bring partnership strategies to life end-to-end.
  • Delivering Executional Excellence & Agility: Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment, driving alignment, accountability, and flawless execution across channels and teams.

What you'll bring:
  • You have a track record of building complex, high-value partnerships.
  • You think creatively about business models.
  • You understand the economics and operational complexity of large-parcel, last-mile delivery, with strong opinions about how to win it.
  • You are a confident, credible negotiator who can build trust at the executive level with major external partners.
  • You are energized by building something that doesn't fully exist yet, and you know how to make progress inside a large organization.
  • You understand both brick-and-mortar and digital retail, and you can bridge the gap between the two.
  • You are tenacious, dedicated, and thrive with ownership, autonomy, and a healthy dose of competition.
