Mobile Diesel Mechanic /TrailerTechnician(II or III)

Pace Transportation Services has recently expanded its service territory, and this is the start of our mobile on-site fleet service for heavy-duty vehicles in the Chicagoland area. Strong candidates will be passionate about providing exceptional mechanical service and professional customer service.The Mobile Diesel Mechanic/TrailerTech position is a traveling mechanic position.You will work from homebeing on call,with no office toreport toon a regularbasis andwill drive to our customers' breakdownsiteor worksite locations, upon being dispatched to perform repairs on commercial heavy-duty trucksandtrailers.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • We are seeking an experienced Diesel Technician (Level II or Level III).
  • In this position you will work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, providing information orassistance, resolving their problems,andsatisfying their expectations.
  • Drive toworksites to diagnose and complete complexrepairson heavy duty trucks, trailers, etc.
  • Read job order, observe and listen to vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.
  • Apply the use of specialized tools and follow documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete complex repairs, includingidentifyingand preparing required parts and tools.
  • Complete required documents, such as service worksheets, time sheets, and warranty claims through handwritten forms and/or businesssystem.
  • Maintaincompany issued servicetruck, conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong professionalism when working cohesively with all customers.
  • Ability to work with no direct on-site supervision.
  • Ability to make effective judgments to prioritizeworkload and time allocation.
  • Ability to carry out full diagnostics using diagnostic tools on different product types; Experience usingCummins Insite Diagnostic Tool.
  • Experience performing all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Ability toproperly usepartsbooks, services manuals, andQuickServeonline.
  • Experience usingCumminsEDS System.
Education and Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience working on heavy duty vehicle
  • State Certified Diesel Mechanic Certification highly preferred
  • Post-Secondary Certificate or training as a Diesel Technician
  • Cummins Certified Master Diesel Technician / Mechanicpreferred
  • Experience with Ottawa/Kalmarproducts
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift/carry30lbsfrequently.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs occasionally.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 100lbs during team lifts infrequently.
