Additional Information:In this role you will be providing medical coverage for local schools within the Prosper ISD system. School based Athletic Trainers will work a schedule of Monday-Friday with game night coverage.

Summary:
Provide athletic training services to athletes under the direction of the team physician or written referral from a physician, and in accordance with state athletic training practice act. Incumbent is expected to respond and act in all emergency and urgent medical situations within the program being covered. All care administered and injuries evaluated should be documented per the CHAI injury assessment reporting provided. Follow up with the Program Manager or Director is expected within 48 hours of the event unless earlier as dictated by the urgency of the medical care provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Have knowledge of and uphold the Code of Ethics of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Texas Board of Examiners for Athletic Trainers.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills with athletes, parents, athletic director(s), coaches and physicians regarding athlete's playing status and ability to return to competition. All communication must be bound by confidentiality.
  • Provide superior care in the prevention, recognition, evaluation and immediate care and reconditioning of athletic injuries.
  • Refer athletes for appropriate diagnostic and follow up procedures, as well as complete and submit the appropriate injury report to the Athletic Trainer Outreach Program Manager.
  • Provide pre-game / practice taping and preparation.
  • Utilize appropriate, sound, up-to-date clinical techniques to effective assess and treat athletic injuries.
  • Provide athletic training services to patients / athletes at sponsored events as required or requested.
  • Provide input as to the fitness and conditioning status of the athlete.
  • Complete all training documentation in a timely manner.
  • Proper management and disposal of all confidential patient information.
  • Appropriate post-event follow up.

How You'll Be Successful:

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years job related experience preferred
  • Experience with providing on-site coverage for school athletic events and practices preferred
  • Experience with administrating consistent injury management procedures.

EDUCATION

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • NATABOC certification preferred
  • Athletic Trainer - State of Texas Athletic Trainer license upon hire required
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association required upon hire
