Full-time janitors are generally considered unskilled workers, as the job typically requires basic cleaning tasks and does not require specialized training or certifications. However, some positions may require knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment operation, or safety procedures, which can add a skill component to the role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time janitor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Janitor, you need a solid understanding of cleaning techniques, basic maintenance, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with cleaning equipment, chemical safety protocols, and sometimes experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is beneficial. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are valuable soft skills. These skills ensure that facilities remain clean, safe, and operational, contributing to a healthy environment for all occupants.

What is a full time janitor?

Their duties typically include sweeping, mopping, dusting, emptying trash, restocking supplies, and sometimes performing minor repairs. Full time janitors help ensure that environments are clean, safe, and presentable for everyone who uses the space. They may work during the day or at night, depending on the needs of the facility. Janitors play a vital role in maintaining the health and hygiene of public and private spaces.

Full-time janitors often manage large or multiple facilities, which can present challenges like balancing a variety of cleaning tasks, working around building occupants, and responding quickly to unexpected spills or maintenance issues. Time management and flexibility are crucial, as janitors may need to adjust their routines based on special events or emergencies. Building strong communication with other staff members helps ensure that janitorial work supports the overall operations of the facility. Field Manager (Mixed Services: Janitorial + Construction Final + Specialty)
Location: Western Washington (Everett to Issaquah, Olympia, Silverdale)
Schedule: Full-time; schedule varies (early mornings/evenings/weekends as needed)
Reports to: Operations / Project Management
Compensation: DOE (based on experience)
Transportation: Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement (based on assignment)
Role Summary
The Field Manager is responsible for daily oversight of crews and job sites to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to ACM quality standards. This role focuses on execution in the field—supporting crew leads, completing inspections, solving problems quickly, and keeping communication clear between the field and the office. This position does not handle hiring; it is strictly crew management and jobsite performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee multiple job sites and service types (janitorial, construction final cleaning, and specialty services as assigned)
  • Lead and support crew leads/technicians: set expectations, coach performance, and follow up on issues
  • Conduct routine site visits and quality control inspections; document findings and ensure corrections are completed
  • Confirm crews have clear job instructions, access details, and the right supplies/equipment before shifts
  • Respond to urgent field issues (call-outs, lockouts, missed tasks, customer concerns) and coordinate solutions fast
  • Train and retrain team members on procedures, safety, equipment use, and customer standards (as needed)
  • Enforce safety policies and jobsite requirements (PPE, site rules, and safe work practices)
  • Track attendance, timeliness, and job completion; report updates, concerns, and wins to leadership
  • Communicate professionally with on-site client/property contacts and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Help protect equipment and supplies through proper use, basic troubleshooting, and reporting repair needs

What Success Looks Like
  • Consistent quality scores and fewer re-clean/rework visits
  • Crews are prepared, on time, and professional on-site
  • Problems are handled quickly with clear documentation and follow-through
  • Customer complaints decrease and communication improves
  • Safety expectations are followed every day

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of team lead/supervisor experience in janitorial, facilities, construction cleaning, or similar field operations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (clear direction, calm under pressure)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Comfortable using mobile apps for schedules, checklists, time tracking, and reporting
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet across active job sites

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing multiple sites/crews at once
  • Knowledge of construction final cleaning standards and commercial janitorial expectations
  • Safety certifications (CPR, lift operator, flagger) or willingness to obtain
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

What We Offer
  • Stable, year-round work with a growing company
  • Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement (based on assignment)
  • Clear expectations, support from the office team, and room to grow
