Job Summary: IT Audit Support Contractor
About the Role
Join the State of Mississippi as an IT Audit Support Contractor and play a pivotal role in enhancing information security and compliance for critical public sector systems. This is a 3-year, 100% onsite engagement in Jackson, MS, offering you the opportunity to work directly with state IT leaders and drive meaningful improvements in technology governance. Develop specialized expertise in audit coordination and compliance documentation while advancing your career within a highly structured and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and supporting comprehensive IT audits across the organization.
- Prepare and coordinate audit evidence submissions and responses for both internal and external reviews.
- Develop, track, and document Corrective Action Plans, Plans of Action and Milestones, and Safeguard & Security Reports.
- Monitor and report on remediation activities to ensure timely closure of audit findings.
- Liaise with business units and technical teams to gather and validate required documentation.
- Identify gaps in existing documentation and collaborate with stakeholders to update policies, standards, and procedures.
- Review submitted evidence for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Maintain organized audit documentation repositories and support ongoing compliance assessments.
- Facilitate the implementation and documentation of corrective actions as required.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5-7 years of hands-on experience in information security governance or IT audit processes.
- Strong knowledge in risk management, control assessments, and audit evidence collection.
- Proficiency with NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-53, and IRS Publication 1075.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, track, and manage Corrective Action Plans and Plans of Action and Milestones.
- Experience in compliance documentation, compliance collection, and security control implementation.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting IRS, SSA, or OSA audits and responses.
- Professional certifications such as CISA, CGRC, CISSP, CRISC, Security+.
