Drafter / Design Engineer

Job description

Are you a CAD professional who wants to see your work leave a real mark on the world? At Bradley Pulverizer, the drawings you create become equipment operating in over 40 countries - in cement plants, steel mills, and mining operations across the globe. And because we're a small, close-knit team, you'll have visibility across the entire business - working alongside engineers, the shop floor, project managers, and customers.
Bradley Pulverizer has been designing and manufacturing some of the most reliable pulverizing and classification systems in the world since 1886. We're headquartered in Allentown, PA, and while our footprint is global, our team is tight-knit, collaborative, and genuinely invested in each other's success.
We're looking for a Drafter / Design Engineer to join our team. This is not a heads-down, work-in-isolation kind of role. You'll collaborate with engineers, manufacturing, project managers, field service teams, and our UK office - and you'll see the direct result of your work on the shop floor and at customer sites around the world.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Creating, revising, and maintaining 2D and 3D engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
  • Producing detailed fabrication, assembly, and component drawings to tight standards
  • Supporting the manufacturing team with drawing questions and technical issue resolution
  • Managing Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawing revisions, and engineering documentation within our ERP system
  • Assisting with product development, design updates, and R&D prototype support
  • Collaborating with our global engineering team, including our UK office, on shared projects and standardization initiatives
  • Participating in equipment inspections, audits, rebuilds, and retrofit projects
  • Traveling (domestically and occasionally internationally) to support customer installations, commissioning, and field verification activities
What We're Looking For
Required:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) - detailed, precise drawings are your foundation
  • 3D CAD experience in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks
  • 2+ years of drafting/design experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication drawings, and mechanical assemblies
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills
  • Curiosity and openness
Preferred / Nice to Have:
  • Experience with ERP systems and BOM management
  • Familiarity with PDM/document management systems
  • Experience supporting field service, commissioning, or installation activities
  • Knowledge of machining, welding, and fabrication practices
  • Experience working with heavy industrial equipment or material processing equipment.
Why This Role Stands Out
At a large corporation, you might spend years in a narrow lane. At Bradley Pulverizer, you'll get exposure to the full spectrum of engineering operations - from design to shop floor to customer sites - in a fraction of the time.
  • Small team = high visibility, real relationships, and meaningful contribution from day one
  • Direct feedback loop with our manufacturing team - you'll see and hear how your drawings perform in the real world
What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • 100% company-paid healthcare for employees
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Annual profit-sharing program
  • Flexible hours (preferred start time 7:00-9:00 AM)
