Job description

About Muslim Aid USA

Muslim Aid USA (MAUSA) is a faith-based international relief and development organization working across 15+ countries to alleviate suffering caused by poverty, disaster, conflict, and systemic inequality. We serve communities through humanitarian aid, long-term development programs, and seasonal campaigns rooted in compassion, justice, and service to humanity-regardless of background or faith.

Position Overview

The Development Coordinator (DMV Area) plays a vital role in expanding MAUSA's community fundraising and donor engagement efforts within the greater New York and New Jersey region. This is an entry-level but high-visibility position, ideal for someone who is passionate about community organizing, public speaking, and building grassroots support for a global humanitarian mission.

The Development Coordinator will support regional fundraising events, masjid engagement, and volunteer activation-working independently while being supported by the Fundraising Director and CEO. The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and comfort working in faith-based spaces.

Alignment with MAUSA Values

The Development Coordinator models compassion, integrity, accountability, and service; upholds Islamic philanthropic principles and ethical stewardship; and fosters a collaborative, inclusive work environment grounded in humility and shared purpose.

  • Identify and cultivate connections with prospective and major donors

  • Organize grassroots fundraising efforts (e.g. Iftar dinners, benefit nights, volunteer-led drives) in coordination with the Event Coordinator

  • Deliver Islamic appeals and motivational presentations when appropriate

  • Recruit, coordinate, and motivate local volunteers to support campaigns

  • Represent MAUSA at 5-6 national conventions per year (e.g., ICNA, ISNA, MAS), coordinating logistics with the Event Coordinator

Event Support & Logistics

  • Collaborate with the Event Coordinator and development team on outreach activities and event planning

  • Assist with booth presence at conventions and community events, including branded materials, tablets, and payment equipment

  • Track donations collected and attendance at events, providing accurate records to the CRM system

  • Support event debrief and follow-up communications with attendees and donors

Campaign Support & Promotion

  • Promote MAUSA campaigns (Ramadan, Qurbani, Emergency Appeals, Winter Relief) across regional partners and online platforms

  • Distribute flyers and promotional materials at high-traffic community locations

  • Collaborate with the national marketing and fundraising teams on content, planning, and tracking

  • Provide feedback and recommendations on regional fundraising strategies

  • Support peak fundraising seasons with flexible hours, travel, and weekend work (especially during Ramadan, Qurbani, and Winter campaigns)

  • Other duties as assigned
