Job Title: Senior Technical Program Manager
Job Type: Full-time Job Location: Boston, MA Reports to: VP of Quantum Computing Services
Summary
QuEra is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead the cross-functional development program for QuEra's next-generation quantum computing system-which may become the world's first fault-tolerant quantum computer. This program spans R&D thrusts, technical milestones, product definition, strategic partner collaboration, and ultimately launch as a quantum computing service.
This role is execution-oriented and cross-functional, coordinating work across hardware and software engineering, research, and operations. It requires deep engagement with strategic partners, structured program execution, and the ability to translate complex technical roadmaps into actionable plans. The role includes limited product management responsibilities scoped to requirements collection and feedback.
Year 1 Focus
Stand up and drive the next-generation machine program across 3 threads:
  1. [Strategic Partnerships] Manage the programmatic interface with strategic partners: joint development activities, shared milestones, information flow, and ensuring partner collaboration accelerates the program.
  2. [R&D Coordination] Coordinate across the R&D teams driving the core technical thrusts-hardware, control systems, software stack, and error Synthesize information across workstreams, track progress toward technical milestones, manage cross-team dependencies, and ensure alignment between research activities and program goals.
  3. [Product & Service Delivery] Collaborate with the product management function-to be matured as the system matures-on translating R&D capabilities into a defined product (system specifications, service model, user interface requirements, and launch criteria) and building the operational foundations for launching as a quantum computing service (readiness planning, customer onboarding, SLA definition, and coordination with operations and cloud infrastructure).
Key Responsibilities
  • Translate the technical roadmap into executable plans with clear milestones, owners, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Drive regular cross-functional reviews, decision points, and progress tracking across hardware, software, and research teams.
  • Serve as the primary program coordination point with strategic partners-managing joint milestones, deliverables, communication, and co-development activities.
  • Track and manage partner-related risks, dependencies, and contractual obligations in collaboration with business development and legal.
  • Support product management in translating R&D outputs into product specifications and launch
  • Maintain clear, structured communication to internal leadership and external stakeholders on program status, risks, and decisions.
  • Support reporting efforts for government sponsors and strategic
Qualification & Profile
Required:
  • Master's degree in physics, engineering, computer science, or a related technical
  • Experience in technical program management, system delivery, or execution of complex technical products involving R&D and partner collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-team, multi-stakeholder programs from early development through
  • Strong ability to coordinate across research, engineering, and external partner
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational Preferred:
  • PhD in physics, engineering, computer science, or a related technical
  • Background in quantum computing, AMO physics, quantum information, or adjacent
  • Experience managing joint development programs with strategic or government
  • Exposure to hardware-software co-development for advanced computing
