PDW is now hiring Full-time Automotive Instrumentation Technicians for an automotive Tier 1 supplier. This role is responsible for installing, calibrating, troubleshooting, maintaining advanced test instrumentation in development vehicles, including thermocouples, transducers, sensors, fiber optics, and accelerometers. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to producing accurate test data. The ideal candidate will combine mechanical and electrical expertise with strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate test data and reliable vehicle performance.
This position is based out of Allen Park, MI and offers an AM shift, plus overtime as needed. Candidates meeting the requirements for this Automotive Instrumentation Technician Position below are strongly encouraged to apply.
Shift Schedule:
  • AM day shift: 6:45 AM - 3:30 PM (Monday - Friday, plus overtime as needed)
  • PM night shift: 3:15 PM - 1:15 AM (Monday - Friday, plus overtime as needed)
Responsibilities:
  • Install, modify, adjust, and calibrate test devices in development vehicles
  • Build and install low voltage automotive wire harnesses to drawings and schematics
  • Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components
  • Read, interpret, and follow service procedures
  • Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance/calling for repairs
  • Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of instrumentation amp; mechanic technician experience - personal or professional
  • Must have own tools with rolling lockable toolbox
  • Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, schematics, and shop manuals
  • Knowledge of proper installation of thermocouples and pressure transducers
  • Diagnose faulty low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring systems and repair
  • Knowledge of repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replacing parts and components
  • Must possess strong organizational skills
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Possess the skills to work in a team atmosphere amp; learn new task
  • Excellent communication amp; time management skills
  • Reliable attendance amp; be able to work overtime/weekends
  • Must possess strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to work overtime amp; weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
  • ASE/State certifications
  • Valid driver's license
