Position Summary
The Inside Property Adjuster is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving residential and commercial property claims from initial assignment through final disposition. Our focus is on delivering thorough claim investigations, accurate coverage analysis, high-quality work product, and timely claim resolution.
We are seeking a conscientious, detail-oriented claims professional with strong decision-making abilities and the capacity to perform effectively in a fast-paced, remote environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational and time-management skills and the ability to balance a diverse workload while meeting client expectations and service standards.
This is a fully remote position. Candidates must be able to work during Eastern Time Zone business hours.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Review claim forms, insurance policies, endorsements, client instructions, and supporting documentation to evaluate coverage and determine potential exposure.
  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve residential and commercial property claims of varying severity and complexity.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate loss reserves based on claim facts, coverage, and anticipated exposure.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and timely written reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information required by clients.
  • Prepare settlement letters, coverage correspondence, denial letters, Reservation of Rights letters, and other claim-related communications as needed.
  • Manage an assigned caseload while meeting established productivity, quality, and client service expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and complete claim file documentation, including timely diary management and follow-up activities.
  • Review and manage work product received from field adjusters to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with client requirements.
  • Review and analyze property damage estimates, photographs, inspection reports, invoices, and other supporting documentation.
  • Evaluate contents inventories, perform moderate- to complex-pricing analyses, and prepare detailed claim inventory reports.
  • Conduct subrogation investigations and identify potential recovery opportunities.
  • Coordinate with and manage consultants, contractors, engineers, experts, and other independent service providers to assist with determining facts, causation, damage, and claim exposure.
  • Negotiate settlements of varying complexity under the direction of the Claims Manager or Supervisor and within assigned authority.
  • Maintain clear, timely, and accurate written and verbal communication with clients, insureds, field adjusters, and other claim stakeholders.
  • Record time and expense charges accurately in accordance with client billing requirements.
  • Maintain required adjuster licenses, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
  • Maintain the integrity and quality of all work product by complying with applicable federal and state regulations, company policies, client requirements, and established service standards.
  • Maintain and expand professional and technical knowledge through continuing education, training, and industry development.
  • Provide guidance and support to less-experienced adjusters when requested.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework, an associate degree, or a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Previous property claims adjusting experience is preferred; candidates without prior adjusting experience must successfully complete Capstone's specified adjuster training program.
  • Working knowledge of Xactimate or comparable property estimating software is preferred.
  • Previous independent adjusting experience is helpful.
  • Farm and agricultural property claims experience is a strong plus.
  • Excess and Surplus (E&S) property claims experience is a plus.
  • Must hold, or have the ability to obtain and maintain, all adjuster licenses required by applicable state and local jurisdictions.
  • Ability to work remotely during Eastern Time Zone business hours.
