The Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, & Systems Engineering (IMSE) in the College of Engineering (COE) at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. This postdoctoral researcher will conduct collaborative research between the Center on Stochastic Modeling, Optimization, & Statistics (COSMOS, https://cosmos.uta.edu/) and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (CHEM) on the topic of surrogate optimization for supercritical fluid extraction / supercritical fluid chromatography (SFE/SFC). There will be the option to teach courses in the IMSE Department. Eligible candidates must have completed dissertation research related to COSMOS and surrogate optimization for SFE/SFC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducting collaborative research with COSMOS and CHEM.
  • Publishing collaborative research papers with COSMOS and CHEM.
  • Contributing to research grant proposals to support COSMOS research.
  • Teaching courses in the IMSE Department (Optional).
  • Providing external professional service, such as being active in professional societies, refereeing manuscripts for journals, and reviewing grant applications for various funding agencies.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. degree is required in an area related to COSMOS, including degrees in operations research, industrial engineering, statistics, computer science, and mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications
Completed dissertation research related to COSMOS and surrogate optimization for SFE/SFC.

The Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering (IMSE) Department Ph.D. offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering, as well as an M.S. in Engineering Management and multiple graduate certificate programs. It currently has about 500 students and 21 full-time faculty members.
