Reports To: Service Manager/Shop Foreman
Job Summary:The C-Level Technician is an entry-level to mid-level position responsible for performing basic maintenance, minor repairs, and assisting with larger repairs on commercial trucks. This role is designed for technicians who are developing their skills and gaining hands-on experience in diesel mechanics. C-Level Technicians support senior technicians while learning more complex diagnostic and repair techniques.
Key Responsibilities:Basic Maintenance & Repairs:Perform oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
Conduct tire rotations, replacements, and alignments.
Replace belts, hoses, batteries, and minor electrical components.
Assist with brake inspections and minor repairs (pads, shoes, drums, and rotors).
Inspections & Diagnostics:Conduct DOT and multi-point inspections on commercial trucks.
Identify and report potential mechanical issues for further diagnostics.
Use basic diagnostic tools to check error codes and assist in troubleshooting.
Support for Senior Technicians:Assist B-Level and A-Level Technicians in complex repairs such as transmissions, engine work, and driveline repairs.
Learn how to perform basic electrical diagnostics and software-based troubleshooting.
Follow step-by-step guidance to gain hands-on experience with diesel engine repairs.
Shop Organization & Safety Compliance:Properly handle tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
QualificationsProven experience as a C-Level Diesel Technician or equivalent role
Ability to diagnose and repair air compressors, air suspensions, air valves, charging systems, clutches, engine accessories, hydraulic brakes, steering components, and front-end alignments
Competence in basic troubleshooting, starting systems, and electrical fundamentals
Welding, fabrication, and road test experience preferred
Must maintain or pursue state certifications and OEM online training, including Cummins and Eaton web-based modules
CDL recommended
Ability to create and follow EDS and Guidanz cases
Basic computer skills and ability to read service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information
Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to quality repairs
Team-oriented attitude and willingness to assist others
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 75 pounds and perform hands-on repair work daily
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching in and around vehicles
Must be comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to moderate noise, fumes, and equipment vibration
Ability to work in varying temperature conditions and occasionally outdoors
Must safely operate diagnostic and shop tools
Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and steel/composite-toe boots
