Plumber

As a mechanical contractor, BION installs heating and cooling (HVAC) systems, plumbing systems and medical gas systems with a specialization in the healthcare industry. Our work involves assembling, installing, alter and/or repairing piping systems that carry water, steam, air or other liquids or gases along with the installation of HVAC equipment, plumbing fixtures and medical gas equipment. The Mechanic Position is a full time (40 hour per week), hourly position.
Plumbing/HVAC Mechanic Position Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Work in a manner that promotes safety to himself/herself and others working in the same area.
2. Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe to required angle, using hand or power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, or pipe-bending machines.
3. Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks. Inspect, examine, or test installed systems or pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
4. Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, fixtures and equipment in a complete manner.
5. Direct helpers engaged in pipe cutting, preassembly, or installation of plumbing and HVAC systems or components.
6. Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings, using hand or power tools.
7. Review blueprints, building codes, or specifications to determine work details or procedures.
8. Install underground storm, sanitary, or water piping systems, extending piping as needed to connect fixtures, plumbing and HVAC equipment.
9. Perform complex calculations and planning.
10. Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A valid driver’s license and dependable transportation as employee will be asked to drive from jobsite to jobsite. It may also be necessary to drive company vehicles for company task
  • Ability to perform skills listed in Task and Necessary Skills
  • Working knowledge of plumbing and HVAC systems to include current HVAC, Plumbing and Medical Gas code knowledge and generally accepted industry standards. /*8
