Job description

About the Position
Carolina Cabin Rentals is seeking a talented and dependable full-time photographer to showcase our growing portfolio of mountain cabins and vacation homes throughout the North Carolina High Country.
You'll create inviting, accurate, and consistent photography that helps our properties stand out and attract bookings through our website and major travel platforms, including Airbnb, Vrbo, and Booking.com.
This is a permanent, in-house position-not a freelance or contract role. You'll be part of our internal team and work closely with marketing and operations. It's an excellent opportunity for someone seeking stable, year-round employment and the chance to build a career in hospitality, real estate, and architectural photography.
Key Responsibilities
  • Photograph vacation rental interiors, exteriors, amenities, and mountain views
  • Showcase living areas, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, decks, hot tubs, fire pits, and other property features
  • Perform light staging, including straightening rooms, arranging décor, and making basic lighting adjustments
  • Capture well-composed images that accurately represent each property and perform well in online listings
  • Edit and deliver consistently polished, high-quality photographs
  • Maintain established standards for framing, lighting, color, and editing
  • Coordinate scheduling and property access with internal teams
  • Identify and track homes that need updated photography due to renovations, seasonal changes, or listing performance
  • Occasionally produce lifestyle, detail, seasonal, and other marketing images
  • Maintain organized digital files and photography assets

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with real estate, vacation rental, architectural, interior, or hospitality photography
  • Strong understanding of composition and lighting for interior spaces
  • Experience using professional photo-editing software
  • A portfolio demonstrating relevant photography skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain a consistent visual style
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and enter private homes responsibly
  • Willingness to travel between properties throughout the workday
  • Willingness to learn and follow established photography standards
  • Drone photography and video experience are a plus

Professional or semi-professional experience is preferred, but we are also open to candidates with a strong portfolio, a good eye, and the desire to grow.
Equipment and Travel
Carolina Cabin Rentals will provide the tools and resources needed to succeed in this position, including:
  • Professional cameras, lenses, lighting, and other photography equipment
  • Editing software and digital storage
  • Reimbursement for approved work-related travel expenses or access to a company vehicle
  • Additional equipment and training as the position develops

You do not need to own professional photography equipment to be considered for this role.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting salary of $42,000-$50,000, based on experience and portfolio
  • Opportunities for increased compensation and advancement as skills, efficiency, and responsibilities grow
  • Performance reviews after 6 and 12 months
  • Paid time off
  • Medical insurance
  • Retirement plan with company 401(k) matching
  • Stable, year-round employment
  • Predictable scheduling
  • Flexibility to complete editing, planning, and coordination work remotely when appropriate
  • Professional development and training opportunities
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment

Who We're Looking For
This position may be a great fit if you are early to mid-career, interested in hospitality and visual marketing, and looking for a stable position with long-term professional growth.
Because this is an in-house role, it is not intended for someone seeking freelance or contract assignments. Candidates must also be comfortable traveling between properties throughout the North Carolina High Country during the workday.
Location: North Carolina High Country - Boone, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, Blowing Rock, Seven Devils, and surrounding areas
How to Apply
Please submit your résumé, a brief introduction, and a link to your portfolio. Real estate, architectural, interior, or hospitality photography is preferred.
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Carolina Cabin Rentals is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for all employees.
