The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is seeking an experienced and highly organized Costume Project Manager to lead project teams within our Costume Department. This role is ideal for a collaborative theatre professional who excels at translating creative vision into action while managing people, materials, schedules, budgets, and cross-departmental coordination.
The Role You’ll PlayAs Costume Project Manager, you’ll guide costume projects from design concept through performance. You’ll partner with designers and production teams, coordinate fittings and materials, lead show meetings, oversee project information, and support Costume Department employees while helping ensure each production’s artistic and operational needs are met.
What You’ll DoLead Costume Projects: Translate the Costume Designer’s vision into actionable plans and coordinate project-specific information, materials, fittings, and documentation.
Manage Materials & Purchasing: Research, purchase, receive, and return fabrics, materials, and show-specific goods while maintaining accurate vendor and source information.
Lead & Support Teams: Guide Costume Department employees, contribute to performance and development conversations, and help ensure adherence to organizational and safety practices.
Collaborate Across Production: Partner with Wardrobe and Hair, Stage Management, Props, Lighting, Sound, Costume Rentals, and other teams to coordinate costume needs throughout the production process.
Manage Budgets & Documentation: Track expenses, complete credit card transactions, and maintain fiscal responsibility and confidentiality.
Support Rehearsals & Operations: Attend technical and dress rehearsals, support Costume Rentals as needed, and coordinate transportation of materials between Ashland, Talent, and Medford.
You’ll Thrive Here If You…Have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of professional theatre or performing arts experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience.
Are highly organized and skilled at managing timelines, priorities, and multiple moving pieces.
Communicate effectively in both group and one-on-one settings.
Bring adaptability, initiative, accountability, and strong decision-making skills.
Are comfortable working with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, and cloud-based collaboration systems.
Experience working with repertory calendars.
Knowledge of global garment and costume history.
Strong short- and long-term planning skills.
Ability to adapt as creative and production needs evolve.
Experience creating and implementing systems that promote equity and inclusion.
Ability to lift and move costume items up to 30 pounds and to kneel, squat, bend, climb ladders and stairs, and sit or stand for extended periods. This position works in person a minimum of 40 hours per week, including weekdays and weekends, and must attend technical and dress rehearsals. Mondays are not required.
Organizational BackgroundThe Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) was founded in 1935 in Ashland, OR, and has grown from a three-day festival of two plays to a nationally renowned theatre arts organization that presents a rotating repertory season of up to 10 plays and musicals, including illuminating interpretations of Shakespeare, other enduring classics, and new works. OSF productions have been presented on Broadway, internationally, and at regional, community, and high school theatres across the country.
